Surrounded by spectacular scenery and an abundance of wildlife, it is a superb base for touring the Highlands. Take a trip on the famous ‘Harry Potter’ train, ride the gondola up Aonoch Mor Mountain, or cross on the Corran Ferry and explore the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Ferries to the Inner Hebrides including Mull and Iona leave from Lochaline and Oban. Visit historic castles, famous gardens, distilleries and museums. Ballachulish has a shop, post office, pub, café and gift shop. Glencoe, Fort William (the outdoor capital of the UK), Oban (the seafood capital of the UK), Inverness and the Isle of Skye are all easily reached. Shop and pub serving food 200 yards.

    This was our 4th stay at Railway Cottage and it was as good as all the previous ones, well equipped, comfortable and excellent location. I have only deducted 1 point on overall rating and comfort and equipment, as it would have been good to have a fan. The weather was very hot and for some reason the cottage really keeps in the heat. So by evening it was very warm and as 'Mac the midge' really gets to work once the sun goes down, we had to keep the windows closed. Everything else was excellent.

    Glencoe is brilliant. The cottage is great - in a village with a good pub and restaurant and a decent chip shop and a decent local supermarket. .... Feels like a real place. Highly recommend it.

    Well appointed for a holiday stay. Very cosy and always warm with storage radiators. Co-op, pub, restaurant, fish and chips and a cafe, all within walking distance.

    A return trip to this cottage proved as enjoyable as the first. The cottage is quiet despite being less than 5 minutes from the A82. It's only a 2 minute walk to a well-stocked Co-op and a further 2 minutes to a beautiful headland perfect for an evening stroll. Watching the sunset over Loch Leven was spectacular. A perfect base for a walking holiday. Most days way drove for less than 30 minutes to reach another wonderful walking destination
