Description

With 5 acres of grounds to explore and surrounded by Warwickshire countryside, Queens Cottage is a great holiday home for couples.

Set within the village of Long Marston in the Warwickshire countryside, this peaceful, single-storey, detached, one-bedroomed cottage enjoys extensive views over open farmland and an array of wildlife in the 5 acres of the owner’s property, Kings Lodge. It is named Kings Lodge due to King Charles II taking hiding in the 500-600 year old property after the Battle of Worcester, where he posed as a servant at 21 years old.

Queens Cottage is completely surrounded by countryside and gardens, in a peaceful location with no road visibility or traffic noise. It lies between Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon, with its famous theatre, independent shops, cafés and restaurants, and the elegant market town of Chipping Campden in the north Cotswolds, both 6 miles away. It’s a great base for exploring the local area with so much to see and do, including many Cotswold towns and villages – Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Norton, Evesham, Alcester and Warwick are all within easy reach. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

2 steps to entrance. All on the ground floor.
Living room: With 28" Sky Q TV.
Kitchen/dining room: With electric oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge.
Bedroom: With double bed.
Shower room: With shower cubicle, toilet and heated towel rail.

Calor gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Welcome pack. Shared small courtyard with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Shared landscaped 5-acre grounds. 2 dogs welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times. Bike store on request. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Everything you need in a compact space. Comfy cottage which had all we needed to cater well for ourselves. Only tried the local pub for eating out and were very satisfied both with the food and warmth of welcome. Other places are also recommended and the owners are very helpful and full of information on the area. There is so much to explore in this part of the country and this is a good spot to explore from.

Small cosy cottage located adjacent to the owner's house in a quiet area. Quite well equipped and very clean. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Well located for our purpose of visiting Stratford-Upon-Avon and the Cotswolds.

Cottage was clean and facilities adequate. Kitchen very small. Virtually all the cottages we have stayed at in the past and paying a similar price have had much better kitchens, eg having a dishwasher, and bigger and better eating facilities, not a small fold down table as here. Bedroom and toilet/ shower very good. Living room quite nice, but furniture very uncomfortable to sit on. All in all cottage adequate but overpriced compared to the many others we have stayed over the past several years.

This was my second visit to Queen's Cottage and it was lovely to be back and see Amanda and family again. This is a beautiful, peaceful location, with a colourful garden to enjoy. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped. Long Marston is ideally situated for visiting both the Cotswolds and other destinations a bit further afield in Worcestershire and Warwickshire. I had another really enjoyable week, and so did my new cat, Milly Marmalade, taking her first holiday away with me ! Lots for her to see from the cottage windows, she especially liked growling at the cows in the next field ! I'll definitely return again soon.

A cosy cottage with a small enclosed courtyard, ideal for letting the dog out and leaving the door open. For me the mattress was a little too firm, but that's my fault for ruining my hip joints at work! Our hosts were on hand if needed, and were charming people. Having access to the large garden was an added bonus, especially when "scrumping" (with permission) plums to stew for pudding. An ideal place to venture South from to visit the Cotswolds.
