Located down a long drive in a quiet wooded valley, just outside the Exmoor village of Wheddon Cross, Quarme Coombe Cottages offer a real haven away from the world. The quiet and beautiful natural countryside is right on the doorstep of these detached cottages. Hedgehog Cottage has a cosy interior and there is a good sized garden at the rear of the cottage, as well as a sitting-out area at the front. The cottages are just a short drive away from Wheddon Cross, which has a well-stocked convenience store and pubs. Further afield, there is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path, or inland on the moors. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watermeet Gorge (National Trust), Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway, are within an hour’s drive. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy an ice cream whilst walking along, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. A visit to the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (National Trust), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill will make for an interesting day out. Watchet, Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area. There are beaches at Minehead, Dunster and Blue Anchor. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

We fluked it as out of the 3 cottages at this location we were the only one in use. Due to being only occupants very peaceful. Its an old farmer workers cottage, stairs are rather steep. The banister is very sturdy, so I had no issue navigating the stairs (I have artistes in my ankles). The nearest pub, Rest and Be Thankful is over a mile away, the road has no pavement. All you could ask for in a pub. Next door is a petrol station with a Kwik-E-Mart attached. Didn't seam possible to use cottage a base to walk dog, as cattle in fields or big signs saying "Private keep out".

A superb cottage in a superb location. Located off the main road, it is a haven for peace and tranquillity. Everything required for the stay was provided. The Royal Oak at Exebridge is a must visit for excellent food. The steak and ale pie is to die for.

Yes I completely loved it at hedgehog! If i had anything to say, I'd change the chicken set of place mats n coasters etc, to hedgehogs. Other than the stone pig out front, there was nothing very hedgehoggy abt hedgehog cottage. Otherwise perfect tho, well enjoyed, thankyou. X

The cottage is delightful. We rent many holiday homes but never return as we like trying new places. However we intend to return to Hedgehog Cottage! We have three year old twin boys and we told them that it is the three bear's house and they are on holiday. We even had the porridge bowls of different sizes to plant there. They loved it. The quality of the cottage is first class and certainly worthy of a ten!

Quaint little cottage. Very quiet location. Clean and well equiped. Short drive to beaches and dunster pretty. You can do day visit at butlins which kids enjoyed. Garden accessed from door on 1st floor landing so may not be suitable for little ones. Garden could have been prettier (i like to sit in garden and have cuppa at end of day) but overall the cottage was lovely.
