Trefrane House is next door to, but completely separate from Trefrane Lodge, with its own separate entrance, parking and gardens set in 9 acres of land. Queen Victoria’s favourite coal was once mined at Trefrane - there are no visible signs today but reputedly the miners could hear the sea crashing above them as they worked the seam which stretched far out under the waves.
