Had an absolutely fabulous time at Puddleduck. As we arrived there was a welcome pack waiting for us that was a really nice touch. The hot tub was also really good and enjoyable to relax in and was lovely to just step in as it was sunken into the decking. We also enoyed sitting on the patio set and having a bbq while we were there. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need and set up to talk to people while cooking from the island in the middle. Bedrooms were very comfortable and bathrooms very nice and spacious. The living room upstairs is very big with plenty of room and also enjoyable with the upstairs veranda. All and all we had a fabulous time and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

We were a party of two couples. The twin beds were quite short and mattresses uncomfortable although the king size was comfortable. Hot tub was too small for 4 adults. Owner left a note to say the oven needs replacing tho still worked but fan was noisy. The decking had a lot of algae on it which left it very slippery. As it rained the whole weekend it was quite unsafe to walk on. On the flip side lodge was very clean and fully equipped. It would have been useful to have had some local information ie takeaways, taxis etc.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am rather surprised at the comments as we have not had such a poor review previously. I am not aware of any algae on the decking but will certainly double check that. Concerning the twin beds, they are standard size beds. We only purchased the property about 6 weeks ago, and we wanted to honour the existing bookings rather than cancel them. The oven does need replacing, however we have not had a slot where this could be done, hopefully we’ll get it done this week. The hot tub is a standard size for four adults and the information has been sorted for taxi’s etc.

We truly wanted to give the Puddleducks 10 our of 10 but the cottage is past its prime. In our view the cottage is sold as a place worth of prizes even though there no maintenance undertaken to make it true. The kitchen unit doors decorative black plastic peels off, the dishwasher doesn't drain very well, the fridge freezes all your items if you set it higher than 2 and everything contained in the kitchen is sticky from grease and lack of proper cleaning. Utensils that you think work are actually broken but nobody bothers to check that they should be replaced. The gas BBQ outside has not been cleaned in ages and all the utensils on it are broken as well. The grill area only works in some places but not others, meaning that you have to guess where to put your items. It's a well used cottage with many visitors in the past (which you gather from the guest book), but for a family with a toddler it's not a suitable place. We found a safety gate but couldn't install it. Despite that owners knew we had a young baby they did not bother to install for us, even though the stairs has a special piece of wood installed to attach the gate. The house is a sun trap and you will get pretty hot in there. The information sheet does mention how to control the heating but we never managed to succeed even though we followed the instructions carefully. The one thing that we really enjoyed is the Jacuzzi, just fantastic views from it and resident ducks will come onto the veranda for you to feed them. The main highlight of our holidays. Great Yarmouth itself is actually quite depressing and I wouldn't recommend going there.

The owner who recepted us was absolutely brilliant . The weather was bad but the accommodation was more than we expected . The ducks became our friends . Thank you
