Pretoria Cottage is a traditional stone built detached cottage, nestling in the heart of the picturesque village of Gunnerside within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, offering cosy and comfortable holiday accommodation with a multi fuel stove in the lounge promising a warm welcome. There is no garden, but open countryside nearby (50 yds). The village of Gunnerside is very popular, attracting the outdoor enthusiast all year round with excellent walking and hiking in the immediate area. This delightful Swaledale village can be found some 6 miles west of the bustling village of Reeth and makes a super base from which to explore the numerous attractions on offer within the Yorkshire Dales. Shop 3 miles, pub 100 yards and restaurant 50 yards.

We had a lovely week in July. This is our second visit to dale. The weather was fantastic and house cool and comfortable. The location was fantastic for walking and there are many short walks that can be done from the cottages. We explored more of Swaledale west of village on this visit. Due to heat and having a dog with us we found lost of walks that were along river banks and fantastic waterfall.We also visited Richmond one day what a lovely market town.

A nice little cottage in the middle of Gunnerside, a short walk from the pub and the cafe, though the latter was shut the week we were there. Big bedroom with comfy bed and great views along the dale out of the windows, and smaller bedroom with bunks for 2 which we didn't use. The bathroom is downstairs, and a little cramped. The toilet seat was loose during our week and slid around a bit. There's an old TV with separate basic Freeview box plus a DVD player. Bring your own device for iPlayer! Some tea and coffee are provided, but bring your own milk - shops are few and far between. If the small shop in Muker (2 miles) isn't open, Reeth (8 miles in the other direction) is the closest.
