Description

Situated in the village of St Day, this is the perfect base to explore both the north and south coast of Cornwall.

Poldice Cottage is the mid-terrace of three stone cottages, located just outside the village of St Day in a quiet location, with the added advantage of a large enclosed rear garden which leads to the lawned courtyard, and a newly fitted kitchen (2018). There is a lane behind the garden which takes you directly onto the cycle path and also to a lovely woodland walk. The perfect location for exploring the many delights of Cornwall, and conveniently situated between the rugged north Cornwall coast and the popular surfing beaches of Porthtowan and Portreath, which are just a short drive away. The cathedral city of Truro offers cinemas, a theatre and shops, and the busy port and town of Falmouth on the south Cornwall coast, with its glorious beaches, is close by. The local area has so much to offer with some beautiful walks in local woodland and the Biscoe cycle trail, which runs from Deveron through to Porthtowan and passes many old engine houses from Cornwall’s famous mining years. There is something for everyone, with National Trust homes and gardens to explore, including the famous St Michaels Mount at Marazion. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

The cottage has lots of charm and is very well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need. The access to surrounding countryside walks is a bonus. The local history is fantastic.

This was our second visit to the cottage and we definitely hope we can go back there again soon. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and the woodburner was really useful as the evenings were chilly when we were there. There is a lovely garden at the back and there are lots of places to walk the dogs nearby. There are shops in the village where you can buy the necessities and two good pubs within walking distance as well. We like the location of the cottage as well because it is easy to get to many of the lovely places in Cornwall.

We have already booked to go back to this cottage because we liked it so much. The cottage is much bigger inside than you would think from looking at the outside and it didn't feel at all overcrowded despite us having four dogs with us. It was very cosy and we really felt at home there. It was ideal for our four dogs as well, due to the lovely big garden which was reached through a gate from the smaller garden which was outside the back door. You can also access the back of the garden from a lane which runs down the side. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and it was easy to keep clean as the floors on the ground floor could be easily swept and mopped. The kitchen was well equipped and we liked the fact that there was both a bath and shower in the bathroom. We loved the wood burner which kept the whole cottage warm and enjoyed sitting on the sofa in front of the fire, relaxing at the end of the day. Our bedroom was big but cosy and it had plenty of storage for all our clothes.

the cottage is dark cold and on a very busy road with traffic thundering past front door from early hours. cannot walk to any pubs or shops etc

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The road outside the Cottage is only a minor road, not a main road. The multi fuel burner was lit for the guests on arrival and we supply enough fuel and logs to last the week. There are electric lights, heaters in both bedrooms and bathroom, and we supply £35 of electric on the meter for usage. There is an easy walk to the village of St Day where there are shops and pubs; it takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
