Whether it’s rambling, rock climbing, fishing or cycling, there is a myriad of activities easily accessible from your cottage(s) at Haddon Grove. The rugged Dark Peak and the Limestone White Peak are close by, while Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and the Crystal Caverns of Blue John are all a short drive away. Haddon Grove is literally on the doorstep of the bustling market town of Bakewell, and close to the cultural spa town of Buxton. Similarly, it is a short trip to the beautiful village of Hathersage and its quaint shops and pubs where you can also pay your respects at the burial place of Little John, the legendary fellow outlaw of Robin Hood. The World Heritage Site at Cromford Mills, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, is only a 30-minute journey by car. Whilst there, add the factory shop at the world famous John Smedley Mills to your ‘to do’ list, and a required destination for any cotton or cashmere purchase. If you fancy a change of scenery during your stay at Haddon Grove, then the city centres of Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Chesterfield are all within an hour’s drive. Derbyshire’s scenery is truly breathtaking with its natural stone buildings and endless stone walls set against a stunning backdrop of hills, dales, rivers and streams, with each boasting many varied and beautiful landscapes. In addition, the stately homes of Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall provide a blend of custom, heritage and history, and offers a family attraction appealing to all ages. For even more excitement, you can always spend a theme park day at nearby Alton Towers or the Heights of Abraham. Or have an ‘out of this world’ experience with a visit to the National Space Centre or Jodryll Bank. The options are as varied as they are endless and the on-site management team can help you make the most from your stay. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 2 miles.
