The living room has a wood burner that will provide cosy evenings for winter visitors, making Pink Cottage a perfect year round retreat. One of a small group of cottages once belonging to the Holkham Estate, the cottages must remain pink to maintain their heritage and they provide a pretty burst of colour to this picturesque area.
Wells-next-the-Sea is a great gateway to the beautiful North Norfolk coast, with its much photographed quay and quaint narrow gauge railway that takes you to the wide sandy beach. Travel east or west from here and you will find a coastline line littered with pretty villages, with sandy and shingle beaches, marshes and quays, all of which make great terrain for sunbathing, swimming, walking, cycling, watersports and bird watching.
With nearby access to the Peddars Way and north Norfolk coastal path amongst many other walking trails, the area is great for walkers and for guests bringing their dogs. For those interested in the local wildlife, the well known Norfolk Wildlife Trust Cley Marshes nature reserve, RSPB Titchwell Marshes reserve and Pensthorpe Natural Park are all under 12 miles from the cottage and boat trips to view the colonies of seals are available from nearby Blakeney and Morston. The Sealife Sanctuary at Hunstanton, and the Dinosaur Adventure Park at Lenwade are also easily accessible. You will also find many National Trust properties and stately homes such as the Holkham Estate, Sandringham and Blickling Hall. This perfect bolt hole is under 2 miles away from the picturesque village of Walsingham, with shops including an award winning farm shop and deli, which specialises in Norfolk produce, along with pubs, a café, restaurant, shrine, abbey and priory ruins. A short drive could also take you to either the lovely Georgian village of Burnham Market or to the market town of Holt, both boasting an array of specialist independent shops, galleries, antique shops, pubs and restaurants. In fact, there is so much to see and do here all year round you will need to return just to fit it all in. And, having fallen in love with Pink Cottage, you’ll be back there too. Beach 3½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Pink Cottage was a family friendly cottage - outstandingly equipped for children and the beach. The kitchen was well equipped as well and we loved the conservatory. Lots of books and information about the area. We had a happy holiday here.

The cottage was very nice apart from it needs a good clean and some improvements made to it. Lots of dust and dirty pots and pans . Its looking tired in parts and for the money, it's over priced due to needing a lot of work.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We at Pink Cottage are very sorry that you didn’t feel that the cottage was clean enough, as this is an area where we usually are hugely complimented by our guests and so we are sorry if we didn’t meet expectations on this occasion. The problem of some slightly dirty pots and pans appears to have been due to a previous guest leaving these hidden in the cupboards and unfortunately this was missed by the cleaning team. Huge apologies for this. However, you did not contact our 24 hour troubleshooting and maintenance team during your stay and so we were not given the opportunity to put this right. For future guests’ information, if you experience any issues at all when at the cottage, please call the team and we will endeavour to sort out any issues ASAP. The telephone number that you need is in the living room, next to the visitor’s book. I have spoken with you personally about the issues that you experienced and you said that you overall enjoyed your stay, but you didn’t particularly like the family feel of the cottage and the very fully stocked kitchen reminded you of a family home. Again, we totally understand that this might not be to everyone’s taste, but Pink Cottage is indeed a much loved second home for our family. As such, it has a very well stocked kitchen, we love to cook. The kitchen has picnic ware, crockery for children and large serving platters and bowls etc in addition to the usual self catering provision. Indeed, we have tried to include everything that our guests, and indeed we, might need, and therefore there is much more than basic crockery and cookware. Many guests have commented as to how much they appreciate this home from home approach, but we understand that it may not be to everyone’s taste, especially if you prefer a more minimal style in your self catering holiday choices.

Our week was not helped by the bad weather, but we made the most of it. Cottage was good and very clean and had lots of helpful info and books etc. Everything you need was really there. Nothing much around , and didn’t see anyone the whole time we were there. We had a problem with the front door, it would not lock from the outside, so we had to lock from inside and go out through the conservatory. I reported this the second day we were there and was told someone would come out the next day. This never happened and by the end of the week because of the rain, the conservatory door also became difficult to open which did become a bit of a nightmare.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay despite the mediocre weather that you experienced during your week. We’re also very glad that you enjoyed the books and guides etc. that are available at Pink Cottage. Apologies for the issue with the lock on the front door. Our team came out to investigate and as the lock was faulty it has now been replaced. Unfortunately the local locksmith was unable to do this during the few days of your stay and so apologies for the inconvenience of having to use the rear access via the conservatory. The locksmith also checked the lock on this rear door and it was fine, so any problems you experienced, were as you say, possibly due to the exceptionally wet weather that you experienced for a couple of days. Thank you for choosing Pink Cottage, we hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Fantastic cottage for a 3 day break. The cottage was very clean and all the towels and linen were excellent quality. When we arrive there was a bottle of wine and cake waiting for us. Will definitely be back! loved it and forgot to mention the garden and furniture. there were two lovely deckchairs and chairs to all eat outdoors. Fab place to stay!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you so much for taking the time to review Pink Cottage. We're so pleased that you had a great break and were able to eat outside; always such a treat. As a family, we also love our peaceful Pink Cottage outdoor spring and summer evenings and especially enjoy watching the swallows and housemartins that are visitors at this time of year. A local barn owl often also appears around dusk. We are also really pleased that you appreciated the good quality linen at the house. All our bed linen is hotel quality, high thread count 100 white cotton. We do our very best to ensure that our guests have the best quality of sleep during their well earned break. Thanks for saying that you'll return, we look forward to welcoming you again. Pink Cottage is great all year. When the summer deckchairs get put away, the wonderful and cosy wood burner and extensive DVD library are different relaxing treats and of course North Norfolk has so much to offer all year around. A heads up for guests who may be coming to Pink cottage in the run up to Christmas in November and December. The extremely popular Thursford Christmas spectacular show and also the Santa visits are now open for booking on the Thursford website. We know that it seems unbelievably early to even think about this yet, but booking as early if possible is always advised, as these events are hugely popular with locals and visitors alike. Thursford is just a 10 minute drive from the cottage and a visit to one of the Christmas events there is sure to get you in to the festive spirit.

A fantastic holiday cottage in a peaceful location, ideal for exploring north Norfolk. We do a lot of short breaks and this is probably the cleanest yet (spotless) and one of the very few that has a properly fenced, secure large garden, perfect for our 2 dogs. Will definitely return! Just a short drive into lovely Wells-next-the-Sea and the north coast, but also perfectly placed for visiting Sandringham, Sheringham Country Park and even the Broads.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to review Pink Cottage and for awarding us such fabulous scores. We are so pleased that you enjoyed a great holiday with us and are planning to return, as Pink Cottage and North Norfolk have so much to offer the visitor at all times of the year. We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

Very warm and comfortable house. Garden and conservatory a particular asset - even in the foul December weather. Good location away from everything but handy for the coast and inland.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Pink Cottage, it is indeed very cosy and warm even in bad weather. As a family, we really enjoy the log burner in the living room on colder days. We are also pleased that you enjoyed the conservatory, it is a lovely spot at any time of the year, as the heating keeps it toasty warm in winter and it rewards us with views of fantastic sunsets over the adjacent farmland in the Spring and Summer. We are often lucky enough to view some wildlife from the conservatory too, as barn owls and a myriad of other bird life are frequently spotted. We have also seen deer, hares and are sometimes visited by peacocks which are escapees from the nearby Holkham estate.
