Having stayed here last Easter and this the house is now looking tired and in need of a good overall. The heating system needs looking at, some radiators aren’t working and neither was the hot tub.

Pine wood is fantastic as a large holiday home so spacious. Plenty room for people to relax in what ever room they are in The lounges are both large and spacious helpful having a downstairs bedroom for those who may not manage the stairs and also a separate downstairs shower room and separate toilet Both the fires were on when we arrived and made the rooms look really comfy and warm the chairs in both lounges were all very comfortable the whole house is easy to access people found the house really to get round and loved the large kitchen where we gathered in the morning the bedrooms were all very comfortable loved the wee touches chandeliers were beautiful and the dining room was gorgous fitting 14 around the table comfortably out side was a wonderful space we had 2children with us who loved exploring and also 2dogs the gardens were all enclosed which was great and the large laundry area was very helpful I would come back to pinewood house in a minute wonderful memories thank you amazing I so didn't want to leave this is the best property I have ever been in

Booked Pinewood for a week to celebrate my 65th Birthday and I will admit I was a tad apprehensive after a previous review but that was quickly rectified after phone calls from Jane and Wendy prior to our arrival which was slightly delayed but through text messages we were able to collect the key and arrived to a very warm welcome of cosy fires, wine, flowers, snacks and sweets followed by text messages and phone calls to see if we’d arrived safely and were settling in okay and in need of any assistance which made our arrival very welcoming indeed. Our family arrived over the next couple of days and finally we were all together to celebrate my birthday. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the hot tub and pool which was well utilised over the week especially the hot tub which was lovely to relax in after long walks in the nearby woodland with our four legged friends. The children especially loved tinkling on the ivory keys of the piano as we all relaxed around the cosy open fires in the evenings enjoying quality family time together in a house large enough to accommodate 9 adults 5 children and 3 dogs ranging in age from 7 to 66 with plenty of space for the older ones in the party to enjoy some quiet time making this very much a home from home. Our stay at Pinewood was certainly made more enjoyable by Jane and Wendy these 2 lovely ladies couldn’t do enough for us and John who kept us topped up with coal and logs throughout the week. The house could certainly do with a bit of TLC but in no way did this spoil the enjoyment of our time spent here and we hope to come back again for another visit as we’d love to see it in the summertime when we could enjoy the extensive garden more but we’d also like to visit again in the winter as kids and adults alike were disappointed not to have seen some of the white stuff during our stay but unfortunately the weather didn’t oblige maybe next time. All in all it was a truly memorable birthday celebration which we will always remember.

Had a fantastic winter weekend here with family & friends, a lovely big house with lots of space and facilities to suit everyone. So cosy with the open fires at this time of year. Everyone agreeing we'd all love to go back again in the summer months. No complaints whatsoever.

Try not to let the exterior put you off, embrace the friendly greetings from the on site team and enjoy the comfort of the spacious house and lovely gardens. We booked it for a 70th Birthday and had age ranges from 3 month to 92. The house catered for all our needs and a fantastic time was had by all. Yes, the Owner needs to look at doing some maintenance, but it is an old house and Jane, Wendy ad Alan do a fantastic job of making sure the guests are comfortable and happy. Thanks for all the wee extras, flowers, chocs, snacks and fruit. The Unsworths

I knew when I booked that the property was made of corrugated iron, but did not expect the outside of the property to be as bad as it was, rusty, old, worn, pipes taped up, ( I presume to stop them leaking,) in need of a lot of attention, my sister did not even want to get out of the car, but just wanted to go home, the inside did not fair much better, the furniture is very old, which is fine, but a few pieces of furniture were only fit for the rubbish skip, especially the piano chair, one chair had staples sticking out at the side, (health and safety) and do not open the display cupboards in either living area, as they smell very musty, the downstairs sink had, at some point been painted white, but the paint was peeling off, and you would not want to wash your hands in it. The reason we booked this property was for the pool, but unfortunately, when you open the door to the pool room, it smells very strongly of wet, dank, musty earth, so only the children were brave enough to endure the smell, mum or dad had to stay to supervise, but every time they came back into the property, the smell came with them, it was very, very unpleasant, and the photos online show nice furniture for sitting round the pool, but now there is only 1 two seater sofa, and a few plastic chairs, but you wouldn't want to sit in there anyway. The trampoline, which the children were looking forward to using, could not be used, as the safety net is so torn and patched up, and the zip is broken, so we felt was unsafe to use. All in all, not worth half the money we paid for this property.....apparently was built during the first world war as a hospital, the house was built for the nurses to live in, seems like it has not had any work done since they left. Shabby chic is acceptable, but this place is just shabby, tired and uncared for. On the plus side, the beds are very comfortable, and the caretakers are lovely.
