This charming holiday cottage is situated in a peaceful village location and is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts and walkers alike.

This charming detached holiday cottage is located in the quiet village of Strachur and is situated only yards from the shores of Loch Fyne, with stunning views over the loch to the mountains beyond. Situated just outside Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, the area is popular with walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. Golf, horse riding and fishing are all within easy reach and wildlife is abundant, with red squirrel, otters, roe deer and a large variety of birdlife, including hen harriers, buzzards and eagles. Seals, otters and porpoises are seen regularly throughout the area. Pinetrees is ideally located to explore the beauty of Argyll. Beach 30 yards, cafe 50 yards. Shop 60 yards, pub/restaurant ½ mile.

    Un fortunately the property is very 'tired' looking. Sommelier areas need redecorating, weeds were growing inside small conservatory and a window frame in large conservatory needed repair. The kitchen window could do with a blind. The biggest problem was the fact it was dirty! The bathroom and bedding was clean but not much else. It also smelt of wet dog in both conservatories.

    we thought this looked a lovely cottage but we had issues with the heating not working properley for 2 nights and no hot water only to be told by the owner theres plenty of wood for fire which doesnt really help. The welcome pack wasnt really that just a homemade cake which was lovely but the rest you get in hotels, sachets of sugar, tea, coffee and even milk not quite appropriate really, we ended up leaving before our week was over,

    Response on behalf of the owner; We are always sorry if a guest experiences any problem in our property and will always endeavour to resolve this as quickly as possible. In this instance we had been staying at the house ourselves the previous week and left the property at 10am on the day of our guests arrival. When we left the heating and hot water were working perfectly. The guests arrived after 4 and advised our housekeeper that the heating was not working. Our housekeeper and her husband visited within the hour to find the thermostat had been turned to frost setting and seemingly they were able to get the heating and hot water working again. However we were advised the following day, Sunday, at 8pm that the heating was not working and the boiler was now leaking. The property is in the highlands of Scotland not in an urban area where emergency plumbers are available and as a holiday home we must use a gas safe registered plumber. We spent Sunday evening calling every registered gas safe plumber in the Argyll area and were able to have a plumber at the property and the issues resolved by 10.30 the following morning. In the meantime we had offered the guests unlimited logs for the fire and our housekeeper had dropped off two oil filled radiators. We are always sorry if a guest experiences any issue with our property and will always do our utmost to resolve the issue as quickly as possible as we did in this case. Sadly even with the best maintenance things will occasionally go wrong as with any house. We also advised Cottages.com that we were happy to offer the guest a full refund of our fees if they chose to leave the property as a result of this issue. I do not feel we could have done more but sadly for this guest this was not felt to be sufficient. As the guest indicated our welcome pack consists of a homemade cake, tea, coffee, milk and sugar. As there is a small shop within a two minute walk of the house and a pub serving good food within a ten minute walk we do not feel a more substantial pack is needed. It is just a little something for guests so that on arrival they can relax with a nice hot drink and piece of cake whist they unpack and get their bearings. We generally have lovely feedback from our guests and have many returning guests.

    Regarding local facilities, the cafe and shop just opposite the cottage and pub within walking distance. Lovely views across the loch. The cottage is very comfortable and clean and the welcome tray with cake, tea and coffee was a lovely touch. The bathroom has been refurbed to include a decent shower over the bath. Was a good base for driving to Ardintinney, Benmore Gardens, Inveraray, Dunoon, Oban and ferry to Bute. Hired bikes and cycled along the Crinan canal. Yes would book this cottage again in future :)

    Well appointed bungalow very welcoming and cosy the view out of the lounge was to die for . Just needs a bit of tlc but would be happy to stay again

We agree that a bit of TLC is needed and are working our way through the jobs that need doing; in the last year we have replaced the bathroom, the oven, the dining chairs, the door to the conservatory and the bedding. Restaining the decking is next on the agenda.

    this is a great little cottage, clean, tidy and well positioned for walks and sight seeing. (car required) there were three of us and our dog and we had a great week. bedrooms and bathroom were spotless and the kitchen is well stocked with everything needed. no complaints at all

    The cottage was very clean and as our family likes to cook the local food . The kitchen was wonderfully equipped with all types of utensils. The log burner was great and yes even in June we used this on a rainy afternoon! Our group consisted of 3 adults and 2 dogs and we felt as though we had plenty of space. The only negative things were the back garden was not secure which meant keeping an eye on the dogs and the main sofa in the lounge could do with being replaced. Apart from that the cottage is wonderfully peaceful and the view was to die for with the ever changing tide.

We have a dog ourselves, Little Ziggy, and very much appreciate the advantages of an enclosed garden. The difficulty is that unfortunately not all dog owners are responsible and some owners do not clean up after their dogs and may leave dog mess in the garden. As we live some way away and rely on our gardener to mow the lawn and maintain the garden we feel it is too much to ask that he have to deal with dog mess. If we were doing this ourselves we would probably enclose the garden and just deal with this if needed. Coattges.com are now starting to give people more information about whether the garden is enclosed for dogs so hopefully this will help people in the future. Pleased to hear that this did not detract from your holiday and you had a lovely stay.
