Tour the owner’s cider farm across the road, or visit Cheddar Gorge which is just a short drive away from this eco-friendly cottage.

This superb semi-detached holiday cottage is situated a few miles from Glastonbury in the small hamlet of Pilltown. It makes a great base from which to explore this beautiful mystical part of the country. The cottage is very eco-friendly, with solar panels and eco-friendly cleaning products. The owner’s fields that the cottage backs on to are all organic natural pastures, with no fertilisers or chemicals used on them, which encourages a habitat for an array of wildlife. The cottage is set within 70 acres, and you are free to roam through these fields and enjoy the surrounding area. The owner also owns a cider farm and museum across the road, and he is happy to take you on a tour to see how cider was originally made. Glastonbury, with its famous abbey and tor, is just a few miles away, and Wells Cathedral with its Bishops Palace, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Caves and Gorge are all a short drive. If you fancy a little shopping, check out Clarks Village, the designer outlet in Street. Also within an hour’s drive you can reach the World Heritage city of Bath with its array of fine restaurants and, of course, the famous Thermae Bath Spa and Grand Pump Rooms, and Bath Abbey. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Comfortable cottage but wasn’t expecting clothes horse full of bedding and towels in kitchen plus another load waiting to be dried in washing machine.

Lovely stay at Pilltown Cottage in November 2018. The kitchen was well supplied, shower had a strong flow and the beds were comfy. Unfortunately we were not supplied with any wood for the wood burner, it is really needed - the one radiator in the living room isn't really capable of heating the room up. Once we got the burner going though it was very snug (local Morrisons, Tesco or B&Q have wood and kindling). The cottage is on a busy road but we couldn't hear any traffic from the cottage and it didn't disturb our sleep, only slight issue is if you don't reverse down the drive you have a bit of a nightmare reversing onto that road. Only major disappoint was the 'welcome pack', which was two teabags left on a tray with two coffee sachets & 4 longlife milks - I'm not really fussed if there is a pack or not but don't feel it should be advertised if that's all there is! Other than that very minor niggle, I would happily stay again. Very convenient location for Cheddar, Wells, Longleat Safari & Bath Park & Ride. Clarks village is also good for a mooch about with places to eat.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location with local pubs within walking distance, overall cleanliness was lacking slightly and the furniture is slightly dated and uncomfortable. Maybe the owner could leave a basic instruction manual on how to use the eqpt within the cottage i.e heating, microwave, overall would highly recommend and would definately stay there again

A lovely cottage, with an orchard for a garden. Well equiped & only half a mile to the local pub. Also being dog-friendly was a great bonus. Close to Glastonbury, Wells, Shepton Mallet & Cheddar Gorge, all worth a visit.

Comfortable and well equipped cottage, close to all amenities of Glastonbury. Fields to wander in with the dog but not as secure as they seem at first, so if your dog is a wanderer (as ours is) then keep a close eye or on the lead. The A361 is extremely busy with lorries thundering by all day and much of the night. It doesn't disturb you in the cottage but it made me nervous in case the dog got out and it's a bit hairy pulling out of the driveway. The road is really the only minus and we would definitely stay here again. It's excellent value for money and very convenient for exploring Somerset.

A very enjoyable place to stay. The owner is passionate about the heritage of his orchards and a very interesting person to talk to. Everything has been thought of and it was very easy for our dog as she was allowed to run in the pesticide free orchard just outside the back door. Although we did not have small children we could see that they had been catered for as well.

This cottage is a real gem, just down the road from Glastonbury, with the Tor in view from the back garden. Although it is on a main road, we found that the traffic did not detract from our enjoyment, and the use of the orchard to wander in was welcome. This is a cottage I would return to and certainly would recommend it as an ideal base to explore Somerset from.

Lovely stay. Mr chant was very nice and friendly. Excellent enclosed garden for our puppies, could just do with a bit of a tidy up. The wood burner is to die for. Although you have to provide the wood yourself. Needs new sofa and chairs. Bit uncomfortable to relax in. Also quite noisy from road traffic.

It's a lovely cottage, thoughtfully equipped. One thing I would do next time - take slippers!
