Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Just 6 miles from the nearest beach, this property is perfect to enjoy the dramatic coastline.

Nestled peacefully amongst the rolling countryside, with spectacular views over the picturesque Teifi Valley and rugged Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire, these four traditional Welsh barns have been lovingly restored. These properties (refs OQ6, OT5, OT6 and OT7) make a perfect touring base for couples or families looking for a unique holiday experience. The former barns date back to the 18th century and have been sympathetically restored to retain all of their original charm and character. Welcoming touches have been added, including blazing wood-burning stoves for those cosy nights in. Sit back and relax in the beautiful grounds, or for the more active, enjoy the numerous leisure facilities Penwern Fach has to offer, including a golf practice, a football field, children’s play area and games room, a great distraction for inclement weather. A short distance away lies the charming village of Cenarth, which is famous for its salmon leaping, glistening waterfalls and the nearby country club which offers excellent facilities for guests to enjoy, including a bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi (£3.70 pp per day), sauna and gym (discounted rates).
The area itself has lots to offer, including fantastic walks along the nearby Preseli Hills, where visitors can discover the numerous trails and enchanted sites scattered along the rolling countryside. Conveniently located on the edge of the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion borders, guests can explore the dramatic coastlines and discover the pretty coastal towns of Aberaeron, New Quay and Newport, offering a collection of seafood restaurants, boutique gift shops and unblemished beaches, where dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day! Away from the coast, the countryside is just as promising, and home to a number of historic sites and charming market towns dotted around the county, including Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan. Just a 45-minute drive away are the thrilling leisure parks of Tenby. Beach 6 miles. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Large, beamed, open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove and kitchen area with tiled floor. Separate toilet. First floor: Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Lovely cottage set in very relaxing idyllic surroundings. We will definitely go back as there are so many places to visit and the cottage is good for a base. The cottage was so nice and comfortable and we had the change to view the others connected to Cych, some of which have been refurbished to a grand state but we still loved ours. There is not a lot in Cenarth although it is still a pretty village, and we would certainly recommend it. A warm welcome awaited us and we went to the Club at the holiday park and met lots of friendly people there. A very enjoyable holiday.
