Tranquil setting

An original Welsh farmhouse set in tranquil countryside just a short distance from the seaside town of Ferryside. Retaining many original features, this detached farmhouse is ideal for large families and groups, with two separate sleeping areas. Set on a working farm it is an ideal family holiday location and a delight for children. In the village the railway runs quietly through the centre along the coast, providing links to Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire, or even a great day out to enjoy a train ride by the sea. Ferryside is an almost undiscovered seaside village on the Carmarthenshire coastline and benefits from all the peace and tranquillity. Ffos Las Racecourse is 7 miles. There are numerous places of interest and a wide variety of activities including Folly Farm, Dolaucothi Gold Mines, Pemberton’s Welsh Chocolate Farm, Oakwood Park which offers an exciting day out for all the family, and the National Botanic Garden of Wales. For the the more active, golf, fishing, watersports and horse riding can be found locally. There is something for everyone. Shops, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

the cottage was very spacious, as there was 8 of us this was what we definitely needed. the three bathrooms were a massive bonus, no fighting for the toilet haha! the kitchen was set out really lovely and very spacious. the only downside we found was the oven was very small for that many people, but we worked around it. it had no wifi and intermittent phone signal but for us that was what we looked for with teenage boys, it was nice to have some family time with no phones haha. the garden and views were beautiful, having your morning cuppa was a big pleasure sat out in the garden. pam was very welcoming, we appreciated her popping over halfway through the weekend to ask if we were okay. the surrounding area was beautiful, perfect for relaxing! There is a lovely pub just over a mile away and a supermarket about 6 miles.

A decent place to get away from it all, especially with no wifi. Nice pub a brisk walk away. All other attractions a short drive away.

Lovely stay with family in this cottage, lots of room for everyone and very comfortable. Owners were very friendly and beautiful location on a working farm. We had three children with us and they loved seeing the cows and tractors coming and going and having a good sized garden to run around in.

Pen-Y-Fedw was the perfect size for us with our daughters family staying along with us. It has everything you need for your stay and the owners were great. The house itself if updated and modernised a little would be a truely great place to stay it just felt tired and in need of some tlc. There is a large Morrisons super market about 5 miles away which was no hardship driving to but you do need a car as there are no local amenities you can walk to. The garden was perfect for our young grandchildren to play in, in the evenings. On the downside we were a little shocked to have water seeping into the main eating area around the old range alongside the kitchen. This was mopped up by the owner when I mentioned it to her. This happened twice whilst we stayed the second time not quite so bad as the first. Our youngest grandson was found playing in the water on the first morning this happened as he got downstairs before any of the adults. Apparently when the wind blows in a certain direction it blows the rain down the old chimney to the now redundant range. Whilst this might add to the overall charm of the place in some folks view we thought that that if this is an on going occurrence it should be sorted out.

We had a lovely week in this farmhouse on a quiet farm. It was so peaceful. Single track road was easy to drive along. Friendly owners (and pheasant!) A short drive to Kidwelly or Ferryside (fab if hard to find restaurant) or Carmarthen. Kidwelly Castle and Quay are musts. Ditto the Botanic gardens and wetland place at Llanelli (don't miss Amelia Earharts memorial en route).
