This is the third time we’ve been to this cottage. It suits our needs well. Doesn’t have wifi which is a pity.

although cottage was in lovely location, was disappointed that i attempted to inform the owner Claire on Monday that upon arrival we noticed a kitchen chair broken, she was going to call in but never did.I again rang on Wednesday and she text me back and despite walking past cottage with her dogs made no attempt to call and see me. I also wished to identify a further issue with regards to instructions to vacate property if there was a fire in kitchen, this meant you would leave via French doors in lounge, this would have been impossible as i was unable to open these doors as they were seized so no maintenance check on them. Also we left the cottage early on Friday as there was a very strong smell of oil fumes from boiler situated in cupboard under stairs, although i never wrote any of this in guest book as I think I am quite a nice person and really wanted to address these issues face to face but that didn't happen despite my efforts to arrange a meeting. My comments in guest book was thank you for milk and bottle of wine, lovely cottage peaceful and quiet location. So that was it.All i can say is that its a shame Claire did not call in as she could see my car there and this could have been resolved and we would have stayed till Saturday,i think it was the height of rudeness to ignore both my wife and myself so will not be going back there again.

We went as a family hubby and two girls 11 and 8. The family of the cottage were lovely the owner of the farm showed us around the farm he was such a friendly chap. They had left wine and milk for our arrival which we felt was very thoughtful.

An excellent, if rather hot, week. The cottage was pleasantly situated outside the city with good access to the various attractions. We enjoyed Southwell, Newark and Sherwood Forest. Nottingham can be explored via the excellent tram system. Definitely an interesting area to visit.

A wonderful location for a peaceful holiday. However the cottage lacks the finer details you find in other properties. There is no internet. In this day and age having a connection is important. We were left with a bunch of flyers in which some were 4-5 years out of date which renders the information contained worthless. This was all we had to find out about local places to visit. With having 2 children we needed to know of places they would find interesting. The smoke/fire alarm had been disabled which is quite disturbing. No additional toilet rolls, all that was left for us were half used ones in the toilet roll holders. A real inconsistency in cutlery and kitchen knives. Because of the location of the cottage we did a lot of cooking in house and not having basic things like decent kitchen knoves and having only 4 forks but 10 knives, and 9 spoons. The kitchen waste bin is quite large but there was only a small shopping bag inside which holds nothing plus has a tendency to fall inside when you put things in. The cottage itself was quite dirty with a lot of dirt under the chairs, and a lot of cobwebs, which showed it had only been visually cleaned. As I stated at the start this is a great location for a cottage. Putting these things right would make all the difference. The people that own the cottage are very friendly but you can see this rental is lacking in a more dedicated person managing this.

The cottage is conveniently located for exploring Notts. The nearby A46 will bring you wherever you want to go. Nottingham city centre is also within reach (only a short car journey). The cottage (and surrounding garden) offers privacy. In- and outdoors you will find everything you need. The only real minus for us was the size of the double bed as we're both quite tall. But we worked our way around that. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Lovely, comfortable cottage. The chap who took our booking mentioned a welcome pack. There was a half size bottle of wine - was this it?
