We stayed in March 2019 when the predicted weather was pretty grim but turned out much better, however the cottage is very warm and comfortable within it's clever compact layout and with a good easterly outlook from the lounge over to the south Downs. The accommodation itself is a self contained annex to the main house with its own front door. All parts of Ouseside Cottage are presented to a very high standard and is equipt very well. I think it is fair to comment that the accommodation is ideally suitable for 2 people but can adapt for an additional 2 at a push using temporary futon mattresses on the mezzanine floor above the dining area. lots of useful information in the cottage about the area and some good reference books as well. Rodmell is very small village but the short walk around Rodmell to visit the ancient Church (still very active) is pleasant and there is also reasonable pub with a good menu just down the road. Parking is easy on-site at the cottage. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again.

Great get away. Small but perfectly laid out. Accomodation to a high standard. We visit this area several times a year and usually book hotels but this was so much better. Only minor criticism is instructions on how to find and turn on hot water and heating could be better as these were turned off at the boiler on our arrival.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you had a problem with turning the heating and hot water on, this is usually straight forward and i apologise for any inconvenience this caused.

Excellent stay, the cottage didn't feel like a holiday rental but like home from home. Handy location for Lewes, Brighton and London - I wouldn't have a problem booking another stay here.

We stayed at Ouseside Cottage for five weeks while we looked at local properties. We loved the cottage and the village and the walks through the fields to the river or onto the Downs. The cottage had every convenience and was immaculate. The view over the water meadows was wonderful.
