This property is part of our Scottish regional Cottages collection

The Scottish Regional Specialist - Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Scotland better!

Sit back and enjoy the stunning views from the oak framed doorway, or take the trail to Macleod’s Table with views across the Hebridean Islands.

Hen Harrier View was the original outbuilding near the home of the then owner and it was home to a horse and judging by the shoes found during the restoration it was a large one, along with a cow, cart and the fodder for the winter months. The detached building was made in traditional stone and the original large doorway provided access for the cart onto a cobbled surface made from stones, either from the nearby stream or beach, giving a dry and solid floor. This 16ft doorway has now been replaced by glass panels and framed in massive green oak pillars that capture the stunning views towards the waters of Loch Dunvegan and the hills beyond.
You may catch sight of some of the wide variety of birdlife the island has to offer including golden and white tailed eagles, hawks, skylarks, hen harriers, curlews and wheatears, this really is a paradise for ornithologists! There are walks straight from the front door which take you up the hills towards Macleod’s Table, and from the top you can see the outer Hebridean Islands shimmering in the sunshine. There is a plethora of wild flowers underfoot including orchids, bog asphodel and carnivorous plants such as butterwort and sundew. Down towards the seashore on the edge of Loch Dunvegan there are the remains of a Pictish Broch with a fallen standing stone. Peat, a fossil fuel, is still cut in the traditional way here using a peat iron in the spring time and left to dry all summer to provide free winter fuel.
Amongst the many attractions are historic sites, castles, standing stones and Talisker Distillery to name just a few. Mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, hill walking and climbing, sea trips and pony trekking are just a few of the many activities available. For the less energetic, sit back, relax and unwind and just be amazed with the dramatic scenery and seascapes. All in all a tranquil place to experience. Beach ¾ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
Hen Harrier View can be booked together with Eagle Farmhouse (UK5850) to accommodate up to 8 guests.

This is a wonderful get away from it all cottage. It is well thought out and has a very high standard of finish and equipment. Ideal for some peace and quiet where the limitations on phone signal and broadband are a bonus.
