This stunning church conversion sits in the centre of a small, quiet Cumbrian village and is perfectly placed for a holiday home, as it is sandwiched between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks. The unique design cleverly combines original features, such as stained glass windows, beams and stonework with a contemporary, open-plan style which offers light, bright and spacious living areas, an appealing kitchen with porcelain tiled floor, a bathroom with a free-standing roll-top bath plus two en-suite shower rooms, each with a walk-in shower, along with comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms. Set in beautiful countryside, the area provides excellent walking and very good cycling. The traditional market town of Kirby Stephen, 2 miles, offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is also on the scenic Carlisle to Settle railway line. Within a 40-minute drive, visitors can explore Ullswater and the Eastern Lakes, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the lesser known Teasdale, along with the popular towns of Keswick, Kendal, Barnard Castle and Hawes. Tan Hill, the highest pub in England, is a short, pretty drive away. The river which runs through the village of Soulby is a focal point for picnics and paddling, and children can also enjoy the nearby playground. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.

Had an excellent time. Really conveniently located for the Lake District and the Pennines. Lots of local walking. Soulby is a very peaceful place to stay and Old St. Luke's is simply stunning.

What a beautiful place. From walking in through the front door, you will be in awe of the work that has gone into this conversion, it is finished to a high level. The rooms are comfortable and most things have been thought of to make your stay great. Some cushions on the sofa would have been welcome, and maybe a throw or something for the chillier nights. The underfloor heating was lovely though. There is not a great deal around the church, and you have to travel at least half an hour to find things to do. The shops are handy in kirkby stephen when you run out of necessities. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone thinking about it.

Such a relax from a hectic life. The dogs loved the garden. The residents of the village totally tolerant of their barking ( not that it was continous). The early morning light through the stained glass was so pretty even if the sun did not shine!
