Description

A magnificent church conversion decorated to the highest of standards keeping many original features sandwiched between the Dales and Lakes.

This stunning church conversion sits in the centre of a small, quiet Cumbrian village and is perfectly placed for a holiday home, as it is sandwiched between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks. The unique design cleverly combines original features, such as stained glass windows, beams and stonework with a contemporary, open-plan style which offers light, bright and spacious living areas, an appealing kitchen with porcelain tiled floor, a bathroom with a free-standing roll-top bath plus two en-suite shower rooms, each with a walk-in shower, along with comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms. Set in beautiful countryside, the area provides excellent walking and very good cycling. The traditional market town of Kirby Stephen, 2 miles, offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is also on the scenic Carlisle to Settle railway line. Within a 40-minute drive, visitors can explore Ullswater and the Eastern Lakes, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the lesser known Teasdale, along with the popular towns of Keswick, Kendal, Barnard Castle and Hawes. Tan Hill, the highest pub in England, is a short, pretty drive away. The river which runs through the village of Soulby is a focal point for picnics and paddling, and children can also enjoy the nearby playground. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.

This has to be the best holiday home we’ve rented! Comfortable beds, modern, lovely bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, could do with some more cutlery and glasses though. Everything was very clean and a high standard and so beautiful with the stained glass windows! The garden is great for the dogs, they loved it and the car park is massive! All the local villagers are so friendly and dog friendly I’m glad to say! I would definitely stay again maybe when it’s a bit cooler because it does get quite warm even with the skylights and the door propped open, but the fans in the bedrooms were a great help thank you!

Lovely Church and the only reason I put no is because my family loves to find different place. The reflection of the church window was brilliant ( as my sister-in-law said she can understand why they've put white tiles on the floor ) Enough room for at least 5 cars on the gravel. Advertised as dog friendly garden it had a wrap around garden but we have a small dog so we requested some wire to be put in the bottom of the gate so hopefully they have done it for other guests. Overall a fabulous place.

Great accommodation really first class on the inside, fantastically equipped kitchen, spotlessly clean, very beautiful inside restored to very high spec. Only down point was it did get hot during our stay, but the owner had already ordered fans that came while we where there, so that will certainly help. The 3 dogs loved it too.

This is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. Particularly enjoyed the beauty of the property that has been renovated very thoughtfully. It is set in a very quiet village with shops/pubs/restaurants a short drive away in Kirkby Stephen. Easy to keep clean if you are taking a dog. Very well equipped, worth checking what is there before you go because we took a lot of things that we didn't need to. Would definitely like to stay here again.

Four generations shared this lovely and unusual property and there was plenty of room for all. Super to have plenty of bathrooms! The kitchen was very well equipped and it was good to have an open-plan living area, so the family could be together.

Really impressed with this accomodation. It was execeptionally clean, and very well equipped. The underfloor heating was amazing, we stayed in October and it really was lovely and warm throughout the whole place. It is lovely and bright too. Really cannot fault anything. The location is great. There is a well stocked Co-op locally in Kirkby Stephen. And a Morrisons in Kendal. It is a great place for touring the lake district, aswell as the Yorkshire Dales. We visited many places in the lake District during our stay, aswell as Skipton in Yorkshire, and Blackpool. Would definately like to return, and would recommend too. Very dog friendly too.
