A very charming cottage and welcoming, friendly hosts. The cottage has great potential and a lovely feel to it but we felt was in need of some TLC. We liked the period features such as the fireplace and quirky staircase. The rooms, bedding and towels were all clean and comfortable but the kitchen drawers and cupboards had so much clutter in them and we couldn't find 4 matching sets of cutlery or 4 unchipped plates which felt a bit disappointing. The sofas needed a scrub and a fresh pair of eyes on the décor and curtains in some rooms. We had a happy time there but probably wouldn't go back, although all of these things are easily rectified.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at the Old Porch House and appreciated its historic features. We have taken on board your comments and given the property a refresh with new floor coverings, improved decor and addressed the issues with the cutlery and crockery. Our cottage is very popular and receives bookings for the majority of the year. As such, we realise that it had clearly become a little tired and so we were grateful of the pointers you gave. I’m so glad these issues didn’t spoil your reunion with your two student children and it was also good that, after you had to leave early to return to work, your mother was able to be joined by a friend for the final two days of the week. Clearly, it proved an excellent base for all generations.
