Loved our stay here at Fernwoodlea. As neither of us drive this was the perfect getaway. Far enough away from everything whilst being near enough for public transport and shops. Very cosy cottage with a fabulous big garden which our dog loved. A very tasty homemade lemon drizzle cake waiting to welcome our arrival. A lovely touch.

A well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage which proved a good base for New Year near Edinburgh and Hogmanay. Spacious accommodation, comfortable beds and perfect for dog owners. Lots of good walking within easy reach.

Lovely little cottage hidden in the countryside, but close to local amenities. Well supplied kitchen was a pleasant surprise (more than 1 plate per quest so no need to do the dishes after every meal for a change)

Lovely cottage with great walks with the dog and our 12week old baby. The living room needs a foot stool though! Would definitely stay here again for a chill out weekend.

Lovely cottage. Not a single issue or suggestion for improvement to be made. Ideally situated for Edinburgh and Fife.

Spotlessly clean. More spacious than it looks. Comfortable (although as restless sleepers we would have preferred / slept better in a king sized bed). Large enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, who thankfully didn't bark when horses went past. It would have been helpful to have a map of the local area with walks marked (there were some notes in the visitors welcome book but it wasn't clear if you could walk on the estate itself). As you leave the private road for which the cottage was gatehouse, turn right and walk for just a few minutes to get to quiet woodland walks opposite and behind the white church. Saw deer, rabbits, hares and what I think were buzzards. Didn't see sheep or cows near the cottage but don't know if animals are moved around the farm. A little unusual to be left a delicious lemon drizzle cake, and flowers from the garden, instead of the usual basics of bread and milk but not complaining! There is a shop in the village close by - a 10-15 min walk. Shower noisy but worked fine, not just a trickle - though water takes a while to drain. Wifi worked too and, thankfully, so did the TV, with just a bit of occasional picture disturbance (critically, nothing to spoil my partner's enjoyment of the World Cup!). We would certainly recommend it and hope to stay here again.
