Light and airy first floor apartment with views of Windermere, country walks from the doorstep, boat trips close by.

These two delightful and spacious holiday apartments have lovely views overlooking Windermere to the fells beyond. Formerly part of a Victorian gentleman’s residence they are situated in a prime residential area known as Heathwaite, which is on the edge of Windermere village. Furnished and fitted in a contemporary style, to a very good standard, the properties offer all the comforts of home. Each has its own private entrance up a short flight of slate steps. The location is superb, 10 minutes walk down to Windermere centre and 20 minutes walk to the lake at Bowness where you can enjoy a boat trip. Take one of the many country walks from the doorstep or explore central Lakeland by car. Shop 300 yards, pubs and restaurants 1/2 mile.

All on the first floor:
Living room: With TV, DVD player and CD player.
Kitchen/dining room: With electric oven, gas hob, combi microwave/oven/grill, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.
Utility room: With washer/dryer.
Bedroom: With double bed and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet.

    We were dismayed to find that on arrival the key-safe was broken. Our booking form did not supply a local help number. After gaining entry to the key safe the key enclosed would not operate the lock. It took about an hour to resolve the situation.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; I am very sorry indeed to hear that you had a problem with the door lock and were unable to get into the property. We have not had a problem with the lock before and so unfortunately could not have anticipated this situation. We have of course now had the lock changed and new keys issued. While the local help number is clearly displayed inside the property I can see that if you have a problem actually getting in then it would have been helpful to have the number on your booking papers and I will speak to the holiday company about adding this. Again I am sorry that you had an unfortunate start to your stay but hope that once you were settled in you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Highmere and the beautiful Lake District.

    This was our third visit in 5 years and we were sorry to witness a decline in the property. It could do with a good spruce up and the equipment updated. The washing machine certainly doesn't do a 40 wash its much hotter. Things that have been reported by previous visitors have not been rectified. We have certainly been to better equipped lettings for a lot less money. We enjoyed our stay in Windermere but if we return to the lakes again it will be in a different location.

    Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry to read your comment about Highmere needing a spruce up. We are actually arranging for a refurbishment to be done over the coming winter period so hopefully this will all be finished by early 2019. I feel I must add that we take customer comments very seriously and we certainly do respond to them, we have even written in the guest book our replies to the comments and any action we have or have not taken as a result of them. We used the washing machine ourselves recently and had no problem with it, but we will get it checked out just in case there is a problem with it. We are glad you have enjoyed staying at Highmere in the past and hope you will return for another visit next year when the redecoration and refurb has been completed. The wonderful view from the lounge and the great location are of course unchanging.
