Description

A good base for a family holiday with lots of attractions in the area to suit all tastes including Stonehenge and Salisbury.

This attractive barn is attached to the owner’s home with its own garden and patio area with wonderful views towards the village and the surrounding countryside. It has a stair lift and a disability aid to help less mobile guests to access the bath. The holiday property enjoys a peaceful location in the small, picturesque village of Fonthill Bishop, where a tranquil river flows to a beautiful lake on the historically fascinating Fonthill Estate. For rambling, horse riding and cycling there is a good network of bridle and footpaths in the area. A truly rural spot, yet just one mile from the A303 and easy access to the many sights and attractions within the area including Stonehenge with its mystical stone circle, Avebury stone circle and Salisbury with its cathedral. The shopping town of Shaftesbury is within 20 minutes, where visitors flock to see the famous cobbled ‘Gold Hill’. The small towns of Tisbury and Hindon have local amenities and good pubs, both within 2 miles. The seaside resort of Bournemouth is just 40 miles, and the New Forest within an easy drive. It is also a convenient base for visiting Bath, Bristol, Stourhead, Longleat House and Safari Park, Wilton House and grounds, and the south coast. Golf courses nearby. Beach 40 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 200 yards.

Stunningly done out cottage - the super large kitchen is to die for. Could happily have lived in that one room alone. We were fortunate with lovely sunny weather - the views were wonderful and we came away very rested, relaxed and happy. Just a shame the traffic is so bad coming down from Yorkshire!!

Amazing cottage. Equipped with everything you could possibly wish for. It was lovely to come back in the evening to a lovely huge kitchen warmed by the aga. Very cosy place and the owner is delightful and very welcoming.

A beautiful property. We immediately felt at home and were especially sad to leave the fantastic kitchen-diner, complete with a lovely, warming Aga and views to fields with resident alpacas! The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the cottage with their own bathrooms next door and are comfortable and furnished stylishly. There are no games or DVDS provided which wasn't a problem for us but may be of use for future occupants - in fact it really felt like you were staying in someone's home rather than a holiday property. The cottage has lovely furniture and is light and airy but is still cosy and inviting. We've stayed in many cottages and this is definitely one of the best.

This cottage was more than I expected. We spent Christmas there and I personally loved it, it's ideal. I will definitely go back in the summer holidays so that I can enjoy the peace and quiet. I would recommend to all my friends and family

a lovely spacious and well equipped comfortable cottage in a quiet location with great walks in the area. Good pubs nearby. Wifi is not always reliable. The aga in the kitchen was off during our september stay. On colder days the kitchen feels cool, because the radiator does not heat it up that well.

A very well appointed cottage in a wonderfully tranquil location even though it is within sight of the A303
