Firstly the cottage is clean, warm, and seems well maintained. Its position is excellent to walk out the front door and start a coastal walk with the dog. Woodland walks not too far away and the amount of deer we saw in Balblair woods at dusk was unbelievable. The cottage overlooks an inlet from the sea into a loch and from the cottage there was any amount of wildlife to be seen. Including seals following the fish into the loch. The rooms were spacious and the bed comfortable. For some reason our dog gets anxious when away from home but he didn't in this cottage. He was chilled out and so were we. If you haven't got a dog I wouldn't worry about any traces of previous visitors. The place was spotless when we arrived. If I was to make a suggestion for improvement I would put a bigger TV In the living room. (Not that we were staying in much) That shouldn't detract from what a nice place this is though, combined with an excellent peaceful location. We'll be back again subject to availability, which is always the downside after giving a positive review....everyone fills the vacancies! Oh and there were a few welcome goodies when we arrived which are always appreciated. Book it!

What a wonderful stay. Loved it, kids loved it. Great walks. Just missed snow by a week which would have been icing on cake but overall very happy with the house, location. Thank you for the welcome pack and milk. Long deserved coffee after a very long drive. Xxx

I chose this place because of the location, right beside the water it’s so quiet and you don’t have to see another person if you don’t want to. It’s close to the forest and some beautiful walks. It’s only a couple of miles from Golspie so anything you need is within reach. Such a beautiful cottage, so clean, comfortable, equipped with everything you need. I love this place and will definitely go back

This was our second visit to Customs House and we loved it even more than the first time. We arrived on 30th December to celebrate New Year and in the living room was a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree and a bottle of Prosecco and shortbread in the conservatory. The cottage is spotlessly clean and a true home from home. The views are outstanding and the wildlife is everywhere around you. We really didn't want to come home.
