If you want to explore the North East this apartment is a great base and value for money. It is large, spotless and comfortable. Just be prepared to drive for a special meal and clean eateries.

Large flat which is centrally located. There is a large modern car park nearby which is reasonably priced and open 24hours. Very helpful and hospitable owners. There is a cafe below the flat perfect for breakfast.

The flat is wonderful, large but welcoming with fresh flowers in rooms and handy boxes of tissues dotted about the rooms and so very very clean. Lesley and her husband Sam cannot do enough for you and are happy to help with any questions you may have. We all had an amazing time and would definitely stay again if visiting that area. Everyone slept well and the beds are very comfy. We could not fault it.

lovely property and very central. We worried about parking but this was not an issue. There is a multi storey across the road and a long stay car park in the opposite direction both a short walking distance from the apartment. The multi store car park you can pay £6 for the week and the long stay was very cheap at £3.50 for 18 hours !! The property is on 3 levels and all the rooms are large and comfy with comfortable beds. Only slight issue is there is only 1 bathroom but there is 2 toilets. The owners met us on arrival and supplied bread and milk and wine - all good. At night there are bars near by and you could hear music from them but it stopped around 1 am . Lovely town and lots of nice shops and walking round about. Went a day out to Beamish and the weather was great and had a fab time. Definitely worth a visit.

Second visit to the old assembly rooms and glad we did, Sam and Lesley were as usual great hosts. The apartment is a great size and well situated for touring the North East.

Stayed easter bank holiday wkend. Not ideal for family weekend break due to the noise from bars below and the single rooms being on bottom floor down long corridor far away from double room on first/second floor. Music from 11pm, car exhausts constantly driving round the block and kick out from 1am very noisey! Area very run down. Apartment and owners lovely can't fault that.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Many thanks for your comments, there is no bar underneath, it is a café and this closes at 4pm. The layout of the bedrooms is as described on the website, long corridor etc. Also described is that the property overlooks the bustling high street and Easter weekend was very busy. The property does have double glazing. As to being rundown, the town centre is undergoing a £150 million makeover.
