This is a great stylish apartment with plenty of space - the pictures do not do it justice. It is in a beautiful setting within quiet grounds in which to walk around or to just sit and watch the sunset (spectacular every evening). It's very easy to get into Paris with trains running every 20mins from nearby Meaux which take you directly to Gard Est within 25mins if you catch the fast train or 40mins on the slower train (8 euro's return). The last train back to Meaux is at 23.00hrs so this is a great base if you want to spend a couple of days in Paris and some days relaxing at the chateaux. There are lots of small pretty villages nearby and you can drive along some of the champagne route easily too. There is a supermarket a 5 minute drive away for supplies. There is a small swimming pool which is small and clean and a tennis court which our children enjoyed. Do not expect anything other than a quiet restful break. There are a few negatives to be aware of, the apartment is on the first floor and there is no outside seating area so whilst it was hot we were unable to sit outside and eat unlike the other apartments in the stable blocks. There are a few seating areas at the rear of the chateau where we could take a bottle of wine to enjoy but this is a 300m walk away and a bit too inconvenient to take food for lunch or an evening meal. There aren't any restaurants within walking distance and very few nearby if using a car. The area around the swimming pool is grass and very overgrown with weeds and the furniture available to use is just plastic chairs which don't recline -not very comfortable. However, I would still recommend Chateau de la Trousse it is excellent value for money and we enjoyed our stay very much.

A fantastic location, wonderful Château grounds and a well furnished and comfortable apartment let down by a few things. The washing machine in apartment was not working and so we had to pay to use an ancient communal machine some distance away. The electrics appeared unsafe with sockets dangling from walls including in the bathroom and lamps that got dangerously hot. The lights in the main bedroom did not work and were not mended despite our requests. The charge for linen, which was basic and variable in quality, was very high and the beds not made up. Basic information was not provided and the directions to the property inadequate and misleading. We were late arriving at the property due to storms in the channel and major ferry disruption. We kept the property manager fully informed but were charged 30 euros for arriving at 9 45 PM. No where in our information did it say this. The property advertised an enclosed garden area. There was none and it was made very clear to us that we were not allowed to use any of the garden furniture in our immediate vicinity. These drawbacks are a real shame as the grounds of the Château and it’s facilities are marvellous and it is a fantastic area in which to stay.
