You can’t get much closer to Cornish country living than on a working farm! Light, traditional with a homely ambience, this farmhouse annex is an ideal family getaway.

This lovely traditional farmhouse has been in the same family for 3 generations, rearing beef cattle and Dorset sheep on the 130-acre farm in the heart of rural Cornwall. This holiday property is a substantial sized wing with the friendly farmer owners living next door. Built of Cornish granite, the farmhouse is over 100 years old, and has slate flagstone floor in the kitchen and a cosy log burner in the living room, with French doors that open onto the patio at the front and the extensive garden beyond. The garden is simply lovely, the perfect playspot for children - a wide expanse of lawn, a myriad of colour in the spring and summer owing to an abundance of flowers, with a deep pond at the far end. There is even a little boat floating on the pond. With chickens in the yard, fabulous views of Bodmin Moor, Caradon Hill and the village of Minions, lovely farm walks and woodlands to explore, this really is a delightful farm homestead just perfect for those families looking for a quiet rural location. Rilla Mill is located practically midway between the north and south Cornish coastlines, which makes exploring the county very accessible, from Bude to the renowned historic village of Tintagel on the north coast, and little fishing villages on the south coast such as Looe and Polperro. On the edge of the moor, Sterts outdoor theatre is nearby, and the historic mining area’s characteristic tall chimney stacks are still seen up on the moor. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Tamar Valley has a pretty meandering estuary, which stretches from Cotehele to Calstock and onwards to the mouth of the river at Plymouth. For golfers Travistock and Yelverton Golf Club are within easy reach. Horse riding nearby. There is so much to see and do, you may need longer than a week! Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

North Coombe Farm was one of the best holiday cottages we've stayed in. For a start, it was less of a cottage, more of a spacious Georgian-style house with a beautiful big garden that had a stream running through it. Value for money was excellent. The house had all the amenities (even a piano!) and was very clean. The setting was beautiful, far away from noise, and light pollution. Diane was an excellent host who made sure our stay was a joy, and nothing was too much trouble. A lemon cake waited for us on arrival, and there were fresh flowers in vases. This was a home away from home. I didn't want to leave. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

My family can't wait to go back to North Coombe farm. The property was equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was very clean, well thought out, beautifully decorated and inviting. The owner, Diana, was so welcoming and helpful. On arrival, she'd even baked a chocolate cake and left Chocolate bunnies for the boys (we stayed Easter week)! A stunning location, with amenities (shops/petrol/church) in Callington, only 5 miles away. The boys enjoyed exploring the large garden, with the river lynher running through it. I honestly can't fault anything, or think of any improvements- the perfect place to take the family when you want to get away from it all.

Absolutely fabulous. Farmhouse conveniently located for access to all Cornish coast's. Spacious accommodation, with everything we could want. We definitely agree with previous guests and couldn't fault anything. Diana and John most helpful and lovely hosts. We had a lovely week exploring this part of the UK. Plenty NT properties to visit, also Tintagel, Boscastle, and Polperro. Can't sign off without mentioning the lemon cake which greeted us on arrival it was fantastic and soon disappeared..

The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. The kitchen was amazing and very homely. The living room was comfortable and welcoming. My main issue was the bed was very uncomfortable. Also with a house which sleeps 6 it could do with another shower or bath. The WiFi is basically pointless, difficult to connect and only allows one device at a time. There is a good mobile signal however. Whilst it did not bother us the owner has 5 dogs which is something to consider if you don’t like dogs. They were very friendly but boisterous. Also you need to be aware when it says adjoining the owners house this means it is the other half of their home. They were however very friendly and unintrusive. Overall the house is lovely and a lot of house for the money.

Such a wonderful find. The cottage is beautiful and idyllically located. Not far from town, shops, garages etc. Would definitely recommend North Coombe Cottage. If we visit this part of the country again we will be staying here.

The cottage location was remote but the quiet was part of its charm. The personal touches such as fresh flowers, local biscuits and a homemade cake on arrival made the trip extra special. Both the cottage and garden was idyllic and everything you require for a holiday home was provided. The property was spotless and the cottage was picture perfect exactly like its photograph. Highly recommended.
