There is a wood burner in the living room and three comfortable bedrooms and a modern fitted kitchen. Across the lane is its larger ’sister’ cottage Meadowside.
In Nolton Haven you can enjoy a drink or a bar snack at the inn above the cove where a small stream flows out over the beach, which is good for bathing, sun seekers and sand castle builders. There is a small slipway here, rock pools to explore and fossils to hunt for. Above the beach is a small 150 year old Grade II listed chapel, perhaps the most westerly place of worship in the UK, and a warm welcome awaits visitors to the Sunday services.
Eira’s Cottage can be booked together with Meadowside (QC1224) and South Nolton Farmhouse (QC1265) to accomoodate up to 20 guests.

Unfortunately, although the cottage has obviously been repainted and decorated and effort made to improve the look of this property. It's more like a plaster being put on it. The original problem of mould was still there, the new papered ceiling was coming down in the sitting room owing to the mould, which had not been sorted before putting up the new paper. The chimney in the sitting room had condensation coming down it. The beds were extremely hard as were the pillows; you got sore ears from them when you awoke, it was like sitting on a solid mattress. Each night on getting in to bed it felt damp. For some reason, they didn't put a shower in the main bathroom but in a small closet in the main big bedroom in its spare extra bed area. It would have been better to leave this as a toilet and sink with the shower in the bathroom. Also, make this bigger room the children's room with 3 beds with bunk beds and make the smaller room a double room as that had a wardrobe. The hanging space in the main room was inadequate. The request for scissors, on many other reviews, was still not attended to, in the kitchen. A swap around of furniture in the kitchen would be good for using the table. The sideboard should go in the small extended end where the table is, and the table should move, with its large stool to the wall, and the table in front, so that you can actually use the other seating. (Infact, the kitchen layout could have been thought out so much better, But the fitments are in place, so it's a matter of using what you now have) Also, there was something in every cupboard and nowhere to put food other than the fridge. I had to put some items together to empty one cupboard for me to use for other foods that did not need to be refrigerated. Also the parking is just about for 2 cars, although the second parking place is on the corner, not to be recommended as many tractors go by the space in and out of the gate behind where your vehicle would be. Again, not thought through. There is a section of garden round to the side of the cottage, near the back gate, that does not add to the garden, so could be cut into to create 2 safe spaces for vehicles. The front parking space is on an angle and the front wood frame to the door is loose and should not be leaned on, it will break. We had to put Vaseline on the gate mechanism, (we didn't carry WD40 on us), as it was soooo rusty. Just a small thing that could be corrected sooooo easily. It's such a shame it could be soooo nice, it is not worth the high price we paid, it is not a luxury cottage or best of; but it is in a lovely place. Another small touch that other cottages have given us, is, information. There are no instructions on how to use any of the kitchen items. it was the third day when I got the cooker right, If you don't have similar equipment, it can take a while with no instructions. Also no information as to which way the beach was, best walks, local amenities, places to go generally. A few basic changes, clean the floor in the kitchen and the sink, so it looks cleaner. Fix the gate. The welcome gift of a cheap bottle of wine was not impressive either. Sorry, it's such a shame, could be soooo much better with effort.

Plus points were lovely big enclosed garden with outdoor furniture, comfy (non leather!) settes and beds, well provisioned kitchen. Parking on road but this didn't cause a problem. 20 mins walk downhill to beach/pub, took slightly longer on way up but good exercise. Negative points freezer not working, recycling bins not empty on arrival (smelly in warm weather!), hot water tap VERY hot and flow from cold water tap in kitchen poor.
