No.3 is a delightful cottage on a terrace of four in this friendly village. Built at the turn of the century, this property has undergone a thorough renovation in 2023 and provides a cosy, comfortable place to stay. The cottage has been tastefully decorated and is comfortably furnished. At the front of the property you have the cosy lounge with oak flooring, which catches the morning sun and the added bonus of Sky on the Smart TV. The kitchen is equipped with all of the essentials for a full meal. A foldaway table and chairs for four can be pulled out. Upstairs high quality crisp white linens welcome you to a zip and link super kingsize bedroom which can be made into singles on request, making this property perfect for two couples travelling together as well as friends and families. On the second floor is a double bedroom, providing great views over the rooftops and to the River Ouse that flows close to the property. You’ll also find a walk-in shower room complimented with fluffy white towels. There is a quiet seating area outside on the decking with a table and chairs.
This cottage is convenient for the wedding venues of the Oakwood at Ryther and Deighton Lodge. Although it sits close to York the village is still very rural; surrounded by farmland with the river Ouse flowing by, with some scenic walks to enjoy. Cawood is a very historic village and is allegedly where the story of Humpty Dumpty was based upon; there is also a Saxon castle here. You are sure to receive a friendly Yorkshire welcome here and there are lots of great amenities on your doorstep including a village shop, cafés and pubs. Further afield you can access Leeds by train in 20 minutes. You can also use the local bus to get to York, or the park and ride service, it is often more convenient than city centre parking and it takes 20 minutes form the York Outlet. Selby is the nearest town with all of the usual facilities including the historic Selby Abbey. There is a direct train from London to Selby and it is often more convenient than York. You can be in Cawood in 10 minutes.
York is a beautiful city to explore, the Minster and National Railway Museum are the top attractions. Soaking up the atmosphere amongst the quirky cobbled streets with charming historical houses, coffee shops, cafés and restaurants to suit all tastes. There are a host of other attractions from Chocolate making, the Yorvik Viking centre, ghost walks, York Dungeons as well as a fabulous Christmas Market and a walk along the city walls. Further afield in the county is Castle Howard, film location for Bridgerton and Brideshead Revisited. For lovers of the coast take a trip to Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay. For a more traditional seaside experience, Scarborough and Bridlington are further down the coast. For guests who love the great outdoors you also have the Trans Pennine Trail nearby, which is great for walkers as well as cyclists. A visit to the Dales makes a great day out visiting Hawes, Grassington and the spectacular Malham Cove. It’s a wonderful coast to coast route connecting many historic towns and cities in the north of England as well as the Pennine Hills.
