No. 2 Prospect House is a beautifully furnished ground floor apartment situated in the award-winning Prospect House development. The building sits in a prime position, perched on a cliff top offering spectacular sea views over Start Bay and with both a front and rear terrace, the unique selling point here is most definitely the ability to enjoy the views from sunrise to sunset.

Inside, the apartment is furnished to the highest standards in a contemporary New England style. The light and airy open plan living space gives access to a furnished terrace. This is the ideal place to dine especially at breakfast while admiring the spectacular sea views.

Outside, the sheltered communal garden to the rear has a heated outdoor pool area and a full-size tennis court. Prospect House also has a large communal garden at the front of the building with a dining area and benches overlooking the whole bay.

Prospect House is ideally located for exploring the beautiful area, and we love the fact that the property has a direct view of Start Point lighthouse. The property sits directly on the South West Coastal path and this also leads to the unspoilt Hallsands Beach. The thriving market town of Kingsbridge is close by and offers an array of independent shops, cafés and restaurants to enjoy. The bi-monthly farmers market offers a wide selection of fresh meat, fish and vegetables.

The bustling seaside town of Salcombe is a short drive away, with a picturesque harbour and abundance of shops, cafés and restaurants to explore. The area is a haven for sailing enthusiasts and offers many water based activities including sailing, scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking.

We’ve stayed in this property two times prior to this stay and actually booked our 2022 stay whilst on holiday here in 2021! Don’t get me wrong we had a fantastic stay - the location is unbelievable - fantastic coastal walks, just 1.25 miles from Start Point and some fabulous coves to visit. However since our last stay the property has changed hands and letting agents and you could tell!! Although well appointed the apartment needs a bit of TLC. Annoyingly although sunbeds are provided on the fabulous back balcony which captures the sun all afternoon, they were stored in a box. I found it almost impossible to put the sunbeds back into the box at the end of each day. Please get some sunbeds you are happy to leave out or please buy a larger storage box. The apartment is isolated (which we love about it) but arriving after 5pm (as requested to do so) and finding not even a pint of milk in the fridge was extremely disappointing. Last year we had the very basics in the fridge along with Salcombe Gin, chocolates and crisps. Just a small welcome pack is needed here please new owners. The other reason for renting the apartment is the beautiful pool which is shared with the other properties but is almost always empty of other residents. However we found the pool needs a really good clean. There is green algae on the pool steps and all the way around the pool walls. It really was off putting. All of the above aside, if you want peace and quiet, a fabulous view and walks on your doorstep, book!

We have visited this property many times. Unfortunately the standards have dropped significantly. The toaster control sticks which leads to the toast burning and needs to be replaced. There is only 1 sunbed (rusty) for 4 guests. There was only 1 hand towel and 3 bath towels. Two bulbs blown in the bathroom and the shower in the bath only runs very hot. Other more minor things, such as the front garden table and chairs with rust stains, show a tired property in need of a serious revamp.

The apartment is exactly as per the photos, very light, airy and well presented, spacious for 2 but would be a bit crowded for 4. The front sees the sunrise over the sea and the rear the sunset over the hills. The pool is heated and very nice, as are the gardens and tennis court. The location is very remote which for us was as desired. Walking to the left takes you to a nice shingle beach in less than 10 minutes, to the right needs about 30 minutes to reach one of the most lovely beaches in the UK. Walking in the area is very up and down so fitness is needed. The local roads are initially somewhat unnerving and I personally wouldn’t bring a nice or large car to this location as virtually all roads are narrow single track with high hedges (expect to do some reversing at some point). I would suggest arriving with food since there are no local shops - stocking up will require a 30 minute drive all on single track roads.
