Nestled away in the quiet village of Fourstones just outside Hexham, No 2 Cottage is the ideal location for guests wanting to enjoy some peace and quiet in this rural village, yet still be close to major transport links. Only a few miles from the A69 and the A1, guests will enjoy easy access to the North East and Northumberland. Perfect for walkers, ramblers and cyclists, Fourstones is surrounded by farmland, woodland and unspoilt countryside. There are many established public footpaths that lead directly through the village and out into the Northumberland countryside. The property is also ideal for guests wanting to bring their horse, as there is ample stabling on the owner’s farm on site and a riding school which may be used at cost and with prior agreement with the owner. There is also a local shop that sells local produce just over half a mile away and two well-known pubs within a one mile radius.

The Northumberland National Park is only a few miles away, as is the Hadrian’s Wall National Heritage Site where guests will be able to discover some of the Roman Forts including Vindolanda, Chesters and Housesteads. Just over four miles away, guests will be able to take a trip to the popular market town of Hexham, which is famous for its abbey and the old Gaol which is the oldest in the country. To the south of Fourstones lie the North Pennines with the picturesque towns of Allendale, Alston and Blanchland all within easy reach and perfect for a day trip. To the north lies the beautiful North Tyne Valley and Kielder Water which offer guests the opportunity to take part in many outdoor sports or even a spot of stargazing in this non light polluted area. Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead for the Metro Centre, Durham and the wonderful sandy beaches of the Northumberland Coast can all be reached in just over an hour’s drive too, making No 2 Cottage the perfect base for touring.
