Brilliant location and very comfortable and spaacious. Generally well equipped, however needs money spending on it to update the general building eg double glazing and the porch was scruffy.

lovely cottage just needs a little TLC to take it back up to high standard it obviously was. The location is great but a little noisy in mornings with pub opposite for deliveries.

In a great location as a base for exploring the Lake District. Sadly the cottage feels unloved as previous reviews have noted and disappointed that comments from February re condition of various items such as diahwasher, lights etc are all valid 6 months later.

After 5 visits to the cottage it is now looking very tired and is in desperate need of some TLC from owner. Desperately needs new chairs at dinning table, rugs, flooring and walls, windows etc need attention. I won't return until I know it's been refurbished.

This cottage is in a great location near all the amenities of the village. It is clear to see that it was once worthy of the four stars grading but sadly it isn’t now. On arrival there was a bad leak in the utility room which when we contacted the owners they sorted within a day but the leak had been there for a while so it was a shame it wasn’t fixed before it ruined the floor. Other things that were in need of attention - the dishwasher compartment to hold the tablet was missing which meant the dishwasher didn’t clean efficiently; light broken in the fridge; a shelf in the fridge had been replaced with a piece of wood; lovely modern bathroom but one of the taps kept falling off. In general it just felt run down and a bit unloved. However it was clean, spacious and well equipped. It was warm too although took a long time to heat up. There are bad areas of black spot mound around too but it didn’t smell damp. Only four chairs in the kitchen when it’s a 6 person place and only enough space to seat five in the lounge too (luckily just five of us). I’d not come back as there are lots of other cottages to choose from but we loved the location and the views from the kitchen window. If it was given a bit of TLC then we’d come back or if the description and price updated to reflect the condition then maybe too!

A central location with good access to the Lakes, whilst hosting local pubs and eateries in the village and walks linking the local area. At this time of year some of the sites are not open - Wordsworth House and certain lake trips. Both pubs were welcoming. As a soup maker at this time of year, it would have been good if a new blender and can opener were added and a better blind in the bathroom. Think a welcome pack of basics would be very acceptable and would be willing to pay a little more to have this - a few logs, milk, soap, bleach for example. But, plenty space, comfy beds a good kitchen and cosy living room - very good value
