What we love

I was thrilled to be invited to visit this gorgeous hideaway for two as it’s an ideal setting for peaceful R & R, and for fun trips to Edinburgh and the Borders.

Description

Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside, lying only 23 miles south of the World Heritage city of Edinburgh.

Situated above a tumbling burn is Mill Cottage (SFFJ), a detached stone building. Part of a working sheep farm, it was formerly an old mill, now converted to a high standard with great attention to comfort and style.

Just below on the same small stream is Bridge Cottage (UKC3466), a beautifully crafted romantic cottage for two. It is set above a bubbling burn and is furnished and equipped with exceptional attention to detail and guest comfort. The double height living area opens onto a secluded, sheltered patio and the sofa and cosy wood burner are perfect for those cooler days. The kitchen and dining area have been equipped with everything needed for romantic dining and the spacious mezzanine bedroom is beautifully presented.

Nearby, visit 16th-century Thirlestane Castle, and Lauder, 6 miles, has good local shops, restaurants, pubs, a gallery and an excellent coffee shop. Kelso and Melrose both have magnificent abbeys, great historic houses and gardens, interesting shops and a variety of cafés and restaurants. There are cycling and walking routes to suit all abilities, along with uncrowded golf courses and world famous fishing on the River Tweed and its tributaries. The beaches of the East Lothian are 25 miles away and there is good walking from the door. Edinburgh, 21 miles, provides entertainment and culture in equal measure. Beach 23 miles. Shop and pub 2½ miles, restaurant 5½ miles.

If you want a centrally based location to discover a large area this is the place. The Borders, Edinburgh, Falkirk , Perth Stirling and the coastline are just some of the places you will be able to visit from this property.....that’s if you ever want to leave the cottage to explore! You want for nothing in this property, comfort, relaxation, views, so relaxing and luxurious. F A N T A S T I C.

In a quiet location this is a modern, comfortable and well equipped cottage, we liked it hand enjoyed our week stay in it. Grace is very helpful and sorts things out. Even though it in a rural setting it is within 50 mins drive of the coast and there is plenty of visitor attraction to cater for most tastes without heading for Edinburgh.
