Imaginatively formed within a charming group of barns and set in superb landscaped shared gardens, an indoor heated swimming pool and a sauna have been created in a separate building, and a further barn offers facilities for table tennis, pool table, ‘fun’ netball and badminton. A spacious play area within a walled garden is equipped with swings, sand pit, adventure playground, large lawned area with raised decking, complete with garden furniture and views over the surrounding countryside. The gardens are a riot of colour, with flower beds, tubs, hanging baskets and courtyards and paved terraces. There is also a stocked fishing lake (rods not supplied) and children are welcome to help feed the animals; goats, ponies, kune kune pigs, sheep, lambs and guinea pigs. The cottages themselves have been meticulously converted. All are tastefully furnished and decorated throughout, and comprehensively equipped. The properties have their own patios with furniture (Hyssop and Lovage Cottages have their own enclosed lawned garden). They are ideal for holidays at any time of the year – all properties have wood burners and are heated throughout. This region is the perfect area to visit at anytime of year and is especially beautiful in the quieter off-season months. The village of Kingswear itself is set on the Dart estuary opposite Dartmouth – which can be reached via ferry.

Myself and my family had a lovely stay. With the indoor pool and games room to entertain an 11 yr old and an animal loving 18 yr old to feed the pigs, horses, sheep, goats, ducks and chickens and not forgetting Magnum the pot belly pig. Combined with lovely views and a log burner for the chilly evenings. We all had a lovely stay.

We had a fabulous holiday, the on-site facilities were great, lovely to have a swimming pool. Our two boys (4 & 6) loved the playroom and went fishing everyday. We would definitely go back.

Very good holiday. Children well catered for. Lovely views. Good base for visiting other places. Swimming pool ideal for young family. Bigger outdoor play area would add to it.

The welcome from Lizzie was warm and the cottage was beautifully decorated, and furnished, the amenities were brilliant. The pool literally two seconds from our front door, kids fell in love with the whole place , especially the animals, my daughters would go and feed the animals and spend a few hours just talking to them xx it was a very safe environment. The kids play area is nice, however the play barn does need a good clean as there was bird poo on the mat off the children’s indoor climbing frame and a lot of dirt around the ball pit and the floor , the ceiling was covered in webs and most of the toys were dirty , all it needs is a deep clean and kept a eye on xx The farm itself is a wonderful place for the kids and they also have places for the adults like the play barn , which has ping pong, pool and table football. The farm also has a lake which is a 15 minute walk over the countryside , it is ok but really only has one peg that could be fished from , and on fishing there for the week only caught 240 roach and two eels , there was definitely nothing else in there, such a shame as on speaking to the bait shop in Brixham they said years ago it was packed with fish and had regular matches . The forest though that is surrounding the lake was fabulous for running around band adventures with the kids . The only thing I wasn’t happy with was that on the site it says the beach is in walking distance, it definitely isn’t, it’s a mile or so from the car park and a 5 minute drive up a steep hill from the cottages . Beach was beautiful however if you have kids or anyone who has a heart problem or pregnant don’t do it xx However myself and family loved the place just needs a bit more time xx my kids were so upset to leave xxx thank you for having us Lizzie xx

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review and we are glad you and your family had a wonderful stay. We have taken your comments on board. We do check the under 7s playroom daily but will increase that to ensure any problems are dealt with promptly. A number of our guests have enjoyed walking to the beach and South West Coastal path, but we agree that it requires fitness and we do caution guests about that.

Absolutely loved this cottage, which exceeded our expectations. It was spacious and well thought out so there was somewhere to put everything and we could settle in quickly and get down to having fun. Great farm walks with our dogs (who loved swimming in the lake) and my daughter helped to feed the animals in the mornings. The pool and games barn had plenty of use too and in the evening we enjoyed playing board games by the wood burner. There was lots to do in the local area too - just wish we had been able to stay longer.

We had such a lovely time here, such a cosy cottage and beautiful and quiet setting. The kids loved the swimming pool, play areas and the animals. The cottage was really well appointed, and had so many great little additions for babies and toddlers.
