This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

A small family will enjoy this superbly equipped, pet friendly property, ideal for discovering Cornwall and Devon.

Netherbridge Farm is a cluster of beautiful stone barns (refs W43405, W43406 and W43407) converted into simply stunning holiday homes. The properties are superbly equipped with bright, light contemporary interior decor and furnishings, and are set in 7 acres of private lawned grounds with two pretty lakes stocked with carp, and a paddock where sheep graze alongside the lakes. Netherbridge was formerly a working farm, now totally redeveloped and landscaped; located just off the A388 on the outskirts of Launceston, making this is a superb location for exploring both Cornwall and Devon, being so close to the River Tamar which forms the border between the two counties. The properties are ideal for couples, families with children or groups of friends to come and relax in tranquil surroundings. For a larger family, two or more cottages may be booked together to enjoy a holiday as a group and there is plenty of space here for all. The properties are open all year round and offer short breaks, so whether it’s for a summer week in Cornwall or a short break when it’s quieter in the autumn and winter, there is always a home from home on offer here. Launceston, or Lansun as the Cornish pronounce it, is an historic town, with the ruins of a Norman castle, built around 1070 AD, perched high up on a hill. There is a good shopping area for essential items, and lots to do in and around the area for all ages. Visit the castle, take a trip on a steam train at Launceston Steam Railway, see otters playing and learn about nature at the Tamar Otter Park, step back in history at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, enjoy a round at Trethorne Golf Club or explore The Tamar Trail. There are some fabulous beaches along the north Cornwall coastline, and the Atlantic coast ranges from gorgeous sandy beaches, ideal for young children, to surf beaches for the more adventurous. Enjoy stunning coastal vistas of dramatic cliffs, and hidden coves and picturesque harbours can also be admired. One such harbour is Port Issac where the TV series ‘Doc Martin’ is filmed. Another favourite is Tintagel, steeped in the mystery of kings and dragons. Bude is a family favourite, and Crackington Haven is popular with holidaymakers and locals alike. High up on Bodmin Moor, just south of Launceston, is the famous Jamaica Inn - the smugglers’ inn, written about by the author Daphne du Maurier. Nearer home and just down the road from Netherbridge Farm is Homeleigh Garden Centre, a fabulous place to visit which is stocked with beautiful plants. Not just a garden centre, it has much more on offer, including a large restaurant, pet area, gifts and kitchenware, clothing, ponds and garden ornaments, and a large farm shop selling a great selection of local produce. You can stop off before you leave and stock up on some Cornish plants or foods to take back home as a memento of your holiday here in truly glorious Cornwall. We loved our stay at Fox Barn and we're already planning our next visit. Such a lovely place and area. Short drive to the both the Moors Bodmin and Dartmoor, so great for hikers. Loads of history in the area ranging from Neolithic right up to modern history. Bude cliff walk is a must and the beaches are special. The cottage is tidy and very presented with everything you'll need. The relaxed approach is perfect for a cottage get away, but the Property Manager, Wendy, is only a phone call or text away.

Stayed twice now and we still love the barn. The owners are there in seconds if you have any questions and Derek is just brilliant with the kids. Although we didnt see him this time. Would go back every year if we could xx

Beautiful location and potentially a very nice cottage but so many niggling defects that make you wonder if the owners really understand quality and hospitality, particularly since many of these things have been mentioned by previous reviewers to the barns. The latch on the master bedroom door jammed shut so that anyone inside was trapped. We had to get help to lift the door open from the outside but then nothing was done during our stay to rectify this problem. See the review of September 2017 when clients mentioned exactly the same problem so its been known about for almost a year. Some other examples - none of the uplighting worked; there were no light bulbs in the bedside lamps in the master bedroom; the outside light didn't work; absolutely nowhere to hang clothes in the second bedroom - no hooks or wardrobe and we were down for a wedding so had lots that needed hanging; no hooks for coats anywhere downstairs There were no bin bags under the sink despite what the (grubby) information said; only three tablemats for a cottage catering for 4 guests; coasters were torn around the edges; only 4 mugs and one cup; no kitchen scissors; iron but no ironing board No reference in the information to where on the farm the utility room and the shared freezer were located. In respect to hospitality, the property was simply unlocked for us on arrival, but no information was offered and we saw no one else during our visit. A strangely hands-off approach. Its a real pity as they have the makings of an excellent experience at Netherbridge but this was our poorest cottage experience to date. I think what really got to us is that almost all of the things we have mentioned above have been listed by previous visitors to the Netherbridge barns.
