Close to estuary

Myrna lies only a stone’s throw from the Tamar River’s impressive and historic estuary. Based in the quiet village of Bere Ferres, this spacious detached bungalow overlooks the enclosed front garden. The garden is ideal for pets and as somewhere to sit out on a warm summers day. Myrna is surrounded by 6 acres of the owner’s land which has tracks leading up to the forestry land behind the property. During your stay, there is plenty to see and do both locally and further afield.

Within the village, as well as the scenic walks, there is an all-weather tennis court, children’s play area, BMX cycle track and 5-a-side football pitch (in adjacent field). Opposite the bungalow is an area of marshland rich in bird life as well as avocets and waders. Canoeing, boating and horse riding can all be arranged with the owner. If you fancy a real slice of local life, Bere Ferres has a very active and welcoming social club as well as a local pub.

From Bere Alston, you can take the train into Plymouth via scenic routes. Visit Plymouth Hoe, where Drake played his famous game of bowls, the impressive Royal William Yard, climb up Smeaton’s Tower Lighthouse and enjoy the view over Plymouth Sound and Plymouth Aquarium. The market town of Tavistock has a good range of shops and local amenities, as well as a popular pannier market and indoor swimming pool. Dartmoor National Park has much to offer the visitor with some great walking, spectacular views and pretty villages such as Post Bridge. The museum at Dartmoor Prison at Princetown is a worthwhile visit. Shop 3 miles, pub with food ¼ mile.

In a lovely spot, only 2 stones throw from the tidal river Tamar. In a private quiet location, the garden was splendid & dog safe too. However, comfort & hygiene inside let it down badly. The furniture was old & smelled fusty. The beds, bedding & lounge chairs were finished - most uncomfortable. Pots & pans could do with a good brillo pad. But the cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer & shower all worked well.
