Whether you have a passion for nature, history or simply love spending quality time outdoors with the family, Mylens is the perfect holiday choice.

Situated in the pretty Devon hamlet of Meldon, within Dartmoor National Park, this spacious semi-detached barn conversion is the ideal base from which to explore both Devon and Cornwall with easy access to the A30. Meldon forms the start of the Pegasus Trail; created for walking, mountain biking and horse riding, it takes advantage of mostly quiet lanes and public bridleways. This stunning area has so much to offer, with nearby Okehampton, known as ’The gateway to Dartmoor’ being a hotspot for walking in the Dartmoor National Park. As a central point for almost all of the many marked trails and walkways such as The Dartmoor Way, the Tarka Trail, the Two Moors Way, the cycle path and The Granite Way, are all close by and bikes can be hired nearby.
Meldon Reservoir is just a short walk; surrounded by open moorland, the lake sits 900ft above sea level and is teeming with native wildlife, and is the perfect place for a spot of fishing or a waterside picnic. Enjoy a leisurely walk and explore the network of off-road footpaths, bridleways and old tracks that cross the valley. Step out of the front door and take a walk to Meldon Viaduct which has amazing views across Dartmoor. Wander through the Black-a-Tor Copse, considered to be one of the best examples of high altitude oak woodland in Britain and pass Meldon pool, the remains of the old Limestone mine. The beautiful bubbling West Okement River is close by and runs under Meldon Viaduct which was built in 1874 and spans 165 metres.
The nearby historic town of Okehampton has a good variety of banks and supermarkets as well as interesting locally owned shops, restaurants and cafés, a leisure centre with an indoor heated pool, gym, sports hall, cinema and dance studio. Other local attractions include Okehampton Station and Railway, Lydford Gorge, horse riding on the moor, golf, local coarse fishing and remains of a medieval castle. The city of Exeter is 30 minutes’ drive away. Mylens barn is equidistant from both north and south coasts, which have coastal walking and fantastic sandy beaches and hidden coves ideal for surfing. Mylens is an excellent place to stay. there were five in our group and we never felt cramped , there was plenty of space to chill out or relax and two bathrooms and a toilet downstairs means you don’t experience any awkward waiting moments. Beds are comfortable and a decent size, place is beautiful and well equipped. We simply loved it , nothing to fault. In addition it’s ideally placed to explore Dartmoor
