The cottage was in such a peaceful lovation but just 1 mile from all the amenities you may require.Clean warm and well equipped. We walked for miles in this amazing area of Scotland. Will return for sure. Our well behaved border had a brilliant time even though the weather wasnt too kind.If you want to unwind then Muirhead cottage is an amazing choice.

We had a lovely, warm and comfortable week at Muirhead. The location and views were fabulous, and our dogs very much enjoyed exploring the garden - we were reassured by the secure fence. Lots of lovely walks and runs on the doorstep and the roaring logburner was a treat to come home to each evening. The kitchen was well equipped and there were lots of home comforts and thoughtful touches available.

The location is amazing if you like to be able to get away from it all without feeling isolated. Surrounded by wonderful countryside and hills, lots of local walking but 15-20 minute walk/couple minutes drive to the village. Very clean, lots of kitchen equipment if needed. Great wood burner that certainly chucks out the heat. Beds ok, but in my opinion the double bed was hampered by the waterproof cover which made it a bit sweaty to sleep on and the single mattress was a bit hard, and could benefit from a soft topper. But appreciate it depends on your preference. OS maps of area provided (brilliant!) though could do with an update.

We love this cottage, great that this year the gate has been fixed and the washing machine and oven replaced with a new ones. Still also think that new non-stick frying pans may be due, the current one don't sit flat on the halogen hob and there for slide around when you are cooking. The mattress has also been replaced but unforuntely for us was too hard as it seems to have been repleased with a FIRM rated mattress perhaps a medium/firm may have been more suitable to suit most guests and therefore provide a better nights sleep. The new Garden Seat is beautiful and a great addition to the outside space capturing the sun.

The cottage had all we needed for a great holiday, even a good selection of DVDs! WiFi and good mobile phone coverage were a a bonus. Good location, fairly close to town but far enough to feel away from it all. Great garden, safe, large and enclosed for our dog and lovely to sit out in to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Had lots of good walks around Thornhill and further afield . Beaches are about an hours drive. All in all a fabulous week, made all the better by glorious weather. We would definitely stay at Muirhead again.
