Description

Nestled in the pretty Cornish village of Mevagissey, Mount Street Cottage is perfect to explore the traditional fishing villages and the beaches of Cornwall.

Mount Street Cottage is a semi-detached property situated directly on the picturesque harbour, in the centre of this pretty Cornish fishing village. The cottage has its own quiet patio to enjoy the evening sun. You can enjoy local sea fishing trips, and hopefully catch the evening’s feast for the barbecue. Mevagissey is the perfect destination for that traditional family holiday, with its narrow lanes full of galleries, craft shops, bars and cafes, that meander down to the working harbour. Take some time to stroll around and browse for gifts, or soak up the atmosphere in the village pubs. Mevagissey has several restaurants that provide fresh seafood dishes, and you can buy local produce from the various farm shops that surround the village. Being on the south coast, Mevagissey is perfectly placed to visit many of the attractions in the area, including some picturesque beaches, such as Pentewan, Caerhays and Port Mellon. There are also many beautiful gardens, including the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the world famous Eden project, and Caerhays Castle and Garden. With superb sandy beaches, vineyards, historic Charlestown, the setting for the recent Poldark TV drama, and the Roseland Peninsula, all nearby, there is no shortage of things to do or see in this dramatic part of Cornwall. An off-road cycle and walking trail with cycle hire can be found at nearby Pentewan, which you can follow into the town of St Austell. Horse riding, canoeing, cycling, fishing, boat trips and walking are all catered for locally. Beach 100 yards. Shop and restaurant 50 yards, harbourside pub 55 yards.

Lovely characterful and comfortable holiday cottage, deceptive in size and very close to the centre of Mevagissey. However, that said you can only reach it on foot as you cannot park close by. Further instructions of where you can park to unload and load your car could do with being more accurate as well as more details required about the parking options in the immediate vacinity. Directions also needed to locate the cottage as these were very vague and I had to ask someone who just happened to be local and show me where it was situated. Once settled in it's a 2 minute walk down to the harbour which is vibrant. Very noisy seagulls! Having said that if those details are ironed out that would be helpful to the future of more people wanting to stay in this old characterful cottage.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. I will speak with welcome cottages and make sure for future users that the car park etc and parking is made more aware for customers.

Good: Location in Town Old Funiture Bad: dryer did Not work Back of a chair was broken, no spare chair Mattress in double bed very saggy Air was musty in all rooms when we arrived The promised wifi did Not work Most of heaters did Not run Parking

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for the review. We have replaced the chair and the mattress I guess is different for all guests as everyone has their own opinion. All the heaters do run correctly, these are storage heaters which need to be switched on at the plug next to each storage heater. WIFI was not promised at the time but we have now added this feature to the property. Parking is stated it is 150 yards away from the property which is Willow car park on Valley Road.

We had a nice week there. We used the cottage as our base to explore other parts of Cornwall. Mevagissy was a very nice village, with good places to eat and drink. The local people were polite and friendly. Transport links were very reliable. Overall with the weather being fantastic. It was a great week.

We absolutely loved the cottage and the great location. A little more kitchen equipment / crockery would have been useful. Sadly the oven didn't work. The owner is aware and is arranging repairs. We really enjoyed Mevagissey and would return to the cottage .

    Response from:
