Nestled in the pretty Cornish village of Mevagissey, Mount Street Cottage is perfect to explore the traditional fishing villages and the beaches of Cornwall.

Mount Street Cottage is a semi-detached property situated directly on the picturesque harbour, in the centre of this pretty Cornish fishing village. The cottage has its own quiet patio to enjoy the evening sun. You can enjoy local sea fishing trips, and hopefully catch the evening’s feast for the barbecue. Mevagissey is the perfect destination for that traditional family holiday, with its narrow lanes full of galleries, craft shops, bars and cafes, that meander down to the working harbour. Take some time to stroll around and browse for gifts, or soak up the atmosphere in the village pubs. Mevagissey has several restaurants that provide fresh seafood dishes, and you can buy local produce from the various farm shops that surround the village. Being on the south coast, Mevagissey is perfectly placed to visit many of the attractions in the area, including some picturesque beaches, such as Pentewan, Caerhays and Port Mellon. There are also many beautiful gardens, including the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the world famous Eden project, and Caerhays Castle and Garden. With superb sandy beaches, vineyards, historic Charlestown, the setting for the recent Poldark TV drama, and the Roseland Peninsula, all nearby, there is no shortage of things to do or see in this dramatic part of Cornwall. An off-road cycle and walking trail with cycle hire can be found at nearby Pentewan, which you can follow into the town of St Austell. Horse riding, canoeing, cycling, fishing, boat trips and walking are all catered for locally. Beach 100 yards. Shop and restaurant 50 yards, pub 55 yards.

We had a nice week there. We used the cottage as our base to explore other parts of Cornwall. Mevagissy was a very nice village, with good places to eat and drink. The local people were polite and friendly. Transport links were very reliable. Overall with the weather being fantastic. It was a great week.

2nd time back at this gorgeous cottage. It really is in the most perfect location. Have recommended now to several friends. Our dog just loves it and its like a second home to her. Looking forward to going back very soon.

We absolutely loved the cottage and the great location. A little more kitchen equipment / crockery would have been useful. Sadly the oven didn't work. The owner is aware and is arranging repairs. We really enjoyed Mevagissey and would return to the cottage .

Quaint cottage in good location close to Mevagissey harbour. Ideal for a couple but agree with previous reviewers that the mattresses in the second bedroom are incredibly hard and unlikely to be very comfortable. The property was clean and cosy. The storage heater downstairs is functional but dated. A guest book with suggestions of local facilities etc would be helpful, as would more updated details on accessing the cottage. Overall though we enjoyed our stay and Mevagissey is lovely!

This is a hard review to write as we did have a lovely holiday and the cottage is in a fantastic location, however it is let down by a few issues, all of which could very easily be sorted out. 1. No signage- we only knew it was our cottage as I recognised the outdoor furniture from photographs on website. 2. Key press is hidden (it's in the coal shed) this should be included in the arrival information. Actually there are better arrival instructions but they are inside the cottage!! 3. There was no milk in our fridge on arrival or initial fuel for the fire, given that the local shop shuts at 8pm this was a problem. 4. The washing machine needs replacing as it doesn't work properly and has been pointed out previously. 5. There were 2 lightbulbs out in main bedroom and no lightbulbs at all in the bathroom ceiling light, this had been reported in early September but had not been rectified. We replaced the bulbs in the bathroom light so I guess it's ok now!! My overall impression was that the cottage needed a bit of TLC and more regular maintenance to keep everything up to a more acceptable level. Perhaps a communication book would help, so that guests had a way of communicating issues to the management team which would enable them to be sorted out when they occur, which they inevitably will.

Response on behalf of the Owner; I’m glad you had a nice time and have made some changes to the key safe (which is now by the front door). We have replaced the washing machine and have put some more spare light bulbs in the drawer the TV is on, and batteries etc. Thanks and glad you enjoyed your stay.
