The cottage felt damp following an apparently very wet Spring, and has very little natural light so even on the sunniest days, it was necessary to put the lights on in the living areas, and it felt cool. Although it is very tastefully furnished and every item looks as though it has been deliberately placed for maximum effect, the kitchen and bathrooms are now in need of an upgrade. The lack of WiFi is an issue and although the garden is beautiful, it is across the road from the house and therefore to make maximum use, you have to ensure you take with you all water, suncreams, books etc that you are likely to need as otherwise you have to trek back to the house. There are very few amenities close by, which is fine if peace and solitude is what you are looking for. Otherwise it is a car journey even to buy your breakfast baguette. Finally, beware the stairs if you are not completely mobile and although hairdryer and iron are provided which was not mentioned in the description, the canoe no longer exists.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments and sorry to hear that your stay was not totally satisfying. Being a 16th century mill, the windows are small in size, allowing less natural light to enter. There is lots of lighting though available in the mill. The house was repainted 2 years ago and small upgrades are made from time to time but given that it’s a very ancient mill, any major renovations risk to change this charming, rustic style. No, there is no Wi-Fi, so this allows a real cut from hectic everyday life, not to the taste of everyone of course but many do appreciate this as a ‘real’ break. Yes, a car is needed for the local shops. There is a well stocked supermarket just 5 mins by car and other shops the same distance away. The canoe is now kept in the garage as the depth of the water is rarely sufficient for it to be used.
