We had a lovely week here, it is quite remote and very peaceful at the top of a hill, right on the doorstep of Exmoor which allows for plenty of local walks including along the Tarka trail. The views are stunning! The road up to the cottage is very much single track as are a lot of the local Devon roads, however as it is not a through road the amount of traffic is quite limited which is good. Lynmouth is a short drive away and there are a number of activities you can do within an hour or so drive from the cottage. The wifi was good which pleased my son, the cottage relies on water from natural sources so during the summer months especially it is sensible to be considerate of how much water you are using. The owners are friendly and helpful and the garden is enclosed should you be taking any dogs with you.

We had a lovely week at Moorland Retreat. The couple who owned the cottage, were the perfect hosts. The cottage is a bit off the beaten track, but once we had our bearings, the location was fine. We loved walking our 3 dogs directly on the moors, which was an added bonus, as no car travel was involved. It was a good location for exploring Lynmouth & Lynton, which my partner always likes to visit. Had a wonderful seafood meal in The Rising Sun Inn, who's service was wonderful. We will definitely be back fir another visit to the area.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. You do have to drive (8-10 mins) to nearby Lynton/Lynmouth & you can’t really walk to the nearest pub (about 2 miles along winding country roads) unless you’re fit. Got a little chilly at night & you have to pay for electricity, owners are lovely people, if you want a quiet country break away from it all, this is the place. Loved it.
