The October weather was surprisingly warm and dry. The family had a great time exploring the local area and playing on the beach. There are a few good pubs with restaurants, and a single grocery/deli-shop/cafe called Johns down the road so be prepared to visit Bideford or Barnstaple for Tesco, Asda or Sainsburys supermarkets if you wish to cook and eat-in.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are pleased that you enjoyed Instow, and that the weather was so lovely. More often than not, we stay in the village, getting all our ingredients from Johns, but the big supermarkets are not far away if you choose to use them.

Great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. No internet and rubbish mobile signal mean keeping in touch with work is a no no. No TV means you might have to keep the conversation going with your fellow holiday makers. No radio on the hifi meant alternative entertainment was very restricted. But this was why we booked Mimosa and we would definitely go again. Good selection of pubs and places to eat, Johns deli is not cheap but has most things you will need if you don’t want to drive. The Boat House food was perfect, the Fish and Chips from the Quay Pub was as good as any. The “beach” is fantastic but swimming is out of the question, also full of dog walkers but most were friendly and kept there dogs under control.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "Mimosa". A very comfortable, homely and quirky cottage and well-equipped. Beautiful changing views over the estuary from sitting room and bedroom windows. Enjoyed learning the history of the cottage. Well-situated and with a handy local store and pubs. Parking was the only downside, even in mid-September, as there is no allocated parking.
