A characterful cottage with a cosy lounge and lots of original features. Walks from the door and just a short drive to southern Lakeland.

Millers Cottage is an 18th-century, stone-built, Lakeland detached house with a lot of character and a host of original features, such as slate flagged floors, oak beams and traditional doors. The cottage is very welcoming, warm and cosy, with a charming atmosphere. This holiday cottage makes the perfect ’home from home’ and a great place from which to explore this side of the South Lakes. It nestles at the end of a private narrow lane on the edge of the old village, surrounded by woodland. There is a children’s loft den (unheated), which is great for the family with lots of toys and games. On the doorstep is the Duddon Valley to the west of Coniston, arguably one of the ’undiscovered hidden gems’ of the Lake District National Park. There are great family walks from the door in many directions including those taking in the wonderful fells, waterfalls, crags & streams. Just a short drive from Coniston, Hawkshead, Ambleside, Grasmere, Windermere, Bowness, Tarn Hows and the Grizedale Forest. Beach 10 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Lovely, very well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Had a lovely holiday, family of four and dog. Great location for exploring the lake district. Yes the access road is narrow, i can see it being a problem for people who struggle to reverse but it didn't pose any problems for our large vehicle so don't let it put you off from staying.

A lovely cottage set down a quiet lane with views of lush green fields 200 yards from your door. Master bedroom was very spacious but not sound proof, so able to hear the tv downstairs when on. Internet a bit temperamental, probably due to the thick cottage walls, a signal booster or extender would be a good idea. Amenities great in the kitchen, all you need, garden a little overgrown but a nice shady place to sit in the evening. Another toilet downstairs would be great too, one bathroom and another en suite but no toilet for the bedroom downstairs. Shower although electric a very weak spray, a pump to circulate the water from the tank would help, no gravity flow, being on the same level. A few tweaks and I’m sure the cottage would booked on a regular basis. A lovely setting though and a great week had by all.

Just returned home after a fantastic week at this cottage. It is in a beutifull location . Has everything you need in the fully equipped kitchen. Two separate rooms with log burners so that your not on top of each other. The four bedrooms are comfortable too. Ideal location for walks ,days out . Good size garden with 2 table chairs. The village is a lovely stroll down the lane which is steep in places but took our time and was fine stunning views

Lovely short stay. The cottage is full of character, very warm, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Previous reviews mentioned a shower not working well but there are 2 bathrooms and we used both showers. The village is within a walkable distance with a choice of pubs serving good meals and also shops including a bakers.

This is our third visit. New bathroom is very nice, but the shower is useless.(sorry) Down stairs bedroom is very much better & now cosy. Big down point, the AGA doesn’t work . On our first visit it was working & being in the middle of the cottage made the whole house very cozy . Please please fix. It really makes a big difference.

A desperately tired and dirty property. Living off it's location. Avoid if you value your car's paintwork as the property is at the end of a long, potholed, bramble lined track.

Response on behalf of the owner: I'm sorry you were disappointed. I have now been up twice to check on the standards of cleaning following your comments. It is a 250 year old house with rough stone walls and slate floors, but we do regularly steam clean the walls and I'm afraid as quickly as we remove the spiders and cobwebs they come back. The track is narrow, but unfortunately is not mine, so I am not in a position to be able to remedy it. I do appreciate your feedback though and will be updating the house later this year.
