Mid Balchandy Cottage (ref SSAB) is an immaculately presented, detached holiday home providing spacious, five star accommodation. Renovated to a high standard and thoughtfully furnished for guests’ comfort and ease, it emanates a wonderful atmosphere in which to relax in an unrivalled setting, with glorious, uninterrupted views of the Strathtay Hills and surrounding Perthshire countryside.
The spacious dining room and living room both benefit from a cosy wood burner, and stunning views can be admired from the window seats. The garden room affords panoramic views and is the perfect place in which to sit and relax - warm and snug in the winter months, or with the French doors open and giving access onto the barbecue deck during the long summer evenings. Surrounded by gently sloping fields and set back from the road up a short drive, there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen from Balchandy Cottage and in the surrounding countryside including pheasants, partridges, rabbits, hares, squirrels, red and roe deer and many species of wild birds.
By prior arrangement with the owner, your stay can be tailored to your needs, the wine cooler can be stocked with a selection of drinks and pre-ordered groceries delivered. A delicious cooked meal can also be waiting and the wood burner lit, ensuring that your holiday exceeds expectations from the start. Towels, bathrobes and slippers are also provided for your comfort. Two pedal-assisted (electric) bikes can be booked on a daily basis at a cost of £50 each, to include helmets, water bottles and back packs including snacks. With a range of up to 50 miles (before recharging), guests can enjoy the stunning roads and byways right on the doorstep. On super-comfortable electric bikes, fitted with all-terrain tyres, you could explore the drove road from here to Dunkeld, passing hidden lochs where ospreys fish for trout, ride through woods and up mountain tracks, spot where the local beavers have been building their dams and marvel at the spectacular views. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a curated spin accompanied by the owner - perhaps a visit to Loch Tummel and the Queens View for cake and coffee, or a daily 10-mile circuit in the adjacent hills on quiet roads - on an ebike a hill is a pleasure!

The town of Pitlochry is 2½ miles to the north, offering everything from good restaurants, specialist wine and whisky shops, a supermarket, distilleries, monthly farmers’ market and the world-famous Festival Theatre. Some of the top visitor attractions and events in Scotland can be found nearby, including the Enchanted Forest, The Pitlochry Dam and Fish Ladder, Etape Caledonia and the Winter Words Festival, which attracts world-class speakers every year. A short drive along the Strathtay Glen is the small town of Aberfeldy, which is home to the Birks Cinema and a variety of good restaurants. The area is host to leisure pursuits to suit all tastes including walking, cycling, fishing in lochs and on the famous Rivers Tummel and Tay, country field sports and visiting local whisky distilleries. Glenshee, Scotland’s largest ski area, lies just an hour away, whilst a network of roads gives easy access to Perth in 25 minutes and Edinburgh in 1½ hours.
Mid Balchandy Cottage forms part of a former, small farming settlement, comprising the owner’s home and The Bothy (a one bedroom property designed specifically for a couple). This is the perfect location for friends and family to meet up and enjoy this area with all it has to offer. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
Mid Balchandy Cottage can be booked together with The Bothy (UKC1651) and West Tomnafeanag Cottage (UK11790) to accommodate up to 8 guests.
