Windermere and Bowness offer days out, all within a short drive. Shop 2 miles and pub ½ mile.

    This place really is a home from home with everything you need. Location is a bit secluded but plenty of walks on your doorstep. We had a fantastic time however our break was cut short by an accident resulting in me with a broken ankle.

    Nice place but bathroom not cleaned properly, especially toilet. Kitchen needed more cleaning especially skirting boards which had food on them and cooking pans. We had to wait until 1630 to get into the cottage as when we arrived at 1530 it hadnt been cleaned and then the cleaners turned up. We were told we could get in from 1500. Not impressed after being on the road for 7 hours and then had to wait another hour!

    Apartment is nice,so many trees near to it make it a bit dark and damp at the entrance,nice out look at the front though not very private,it's a good location for walking and pretty central if you want to visit Ambleside or Grasmere,Hawkshead.

    We enjoyed a fantastic week at Merlins towards the end of june. The flat itself is clean, cosy and comfortable. It has everything you should possibly need from an extensive selection of kitchen utensils to a good selection of dvds. Also books and guides on local walks and activities to do in the area. The site is in great location for a quick drive into Ambleside or Windermere. You can also walk from the flat to some lovely local pubs and cafes. The site amenities, such as the pool and sauna, were also very lovely and relaxing. I would definitely recommend a stay at Merlins to anyone travelling to this beautiful part of the country and I cannot wait to return in the future!

    So lovely to be back at the wonderful Merlins! The flat looked beautiful upon our arrival and there are few better locations in the lake district than Loughrigg fell, with the gorgeous Loughrigg tarn, the Brathay and lots of nice eateries within a few minutes' walk. The flat is incredibly well equipped; the kitchen has everything you could need and the DVD and boardgames selection is very generous! Thank you again for another amazing stay and we will certainly be back next year!
