Cottage difficult for older people with severely sloping ceilings and very narrow spiral staircase. We were surprised to find NO information leaflets for ANY of the equipment - central heating, cooker, coffee-maker etc. First time in 25 cottages that has happened. Had to ask twice for the four dead light bulbs to be replaced. Owner very pleasant but hard to contact as mobile signal patchy for my phone. Cottage light and clean - beautiful scenery. Good pub - The Reindeer - in village. Nice bottle of wine as a welcome gift.

We had a lovely stay here o we the Bank holiday weekend. (Family of 4 with out 16year old son, 10 year old Daughter & our Springer Spaniel) kids & Pooch loved it. It's so relaxing & peaceful. B beautifully decorated with everything you need for general living. Newark is definitely worth a visit too, lovely river walk & a fantastic Market. We all loved it & would defiantly go back.

A nice spot to stay close to the A1 with easy access from north and south. Hot tub wasn't filled up enough when we got there and this led to issues getting it refilled effectively putting it out of use for a couple of the nights. The owner could possibly have been a bit more affable about this and seemed a wee bit rude but had clearly had a tough week. The hot tub was overlooked by houses on both sides but no real issues regarding privacy. Quite a bit of the kitchen stuff wasn't exactly clean with a very temperamental dishwasher exacerbating the issue. There is absolutely no wifi here which isn't a bad thing! That said we'd recommend it.

Response on behalf of the owner; Any maintenance needs brought to our attention are acted on promptly as our priority is the well-being of our guests. As far as we were aware, there were no issues reported, otherwise it would have been dealt with immediately. With regards to the hot tub, you were advised when you arrived 2 hours early that the hot tub wasn't yet full and at temperature, due to it having to be drained down, re-filled and re-heated between guests. We are sorry if this caused you any inconvenience.

We spent a lovely quiet long weekend at Merlin's Lodge. It's a brilliant little place if you just want to get away from it all, switch off and enjoy some much needed peace and quiet. Both Newarke and Lincoln are a short car journey away which are beautiful places to visit. The lodge itself is decorated to a high standard and has all you need to help you enjoy your stay.

This was our 3rd hot tub break this year and although the hot tub it's self was very big, I didn't think it fair to be requested not to go in it after 8.30am on day of departure :(, although the lodge its self looked lovely inside lovely furniture on closer inspection it was as clean, dirty cutlery in draw, dirty stained place mats, dust on bed frame, only two towels provided which wernt the biggest more needed when you need to shower before getting in hot tub and walking through the lodge, little things that people don't pack for couple nights such as hand soap, kitchen roll would be helpful.

We have to request guests do not use the hot tub on the morning of their departure otherwise we wouldn't have to time to drain it, re-fill and re-heat ready for the next guests, sorry if this caused you any inconvenience.
