Meldon Park was built by the renowned architect John Dobson in 1832 for Isaac Cookson and remains the home of the Cookson family. Dobson is known to have walked the grounds for a month before choosing the imposing site of the house, on a ledge above the valley of the River Wansbeck, in the northern part of an old deer park. The accommodation available is a substantial self-contained wing with independent access. The spacious living room boasts the comfort of a wood burner ensuring a cosy welcome awaits guests regardless of the season and enjoys views across the stunning garden grounds.
Meldon Park is a traditional rural estate positioned on the north bank of the River Wansbeck where fishing for brown trout can be arranged and commands magnificent views across the peaceful parkland and ancient woodlands. Guests are welcome to roam the 9 acres surrounding the main house or wander across the wider estate of some 3,500 acres if desired. Take time for a stroll up to the kitchen garden close by.

A warm comfortable apartment in a beautiful setting. Perfect for us, we had access to acres of park straight from the door. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the area was wonderfully quiet but you could drive to the nearby market town in about fifteen minutes.

Loved staying here. Comfy accommodation, especially the beds. Good heating system and good wood supplies. Great walking from the house making dog exercise easy and accessible. Wouldn’t mind a repeat performance.

Excellent property. Very well appointed. Lovely walks around the grounds. Friendly dogs and horses! It is a 10-15 minute drive to any shops, but there are local pubs. We were very happy with that but some might not be. Lovely hosts. Would definitely visit again.
