Wasn’t a great experience the beds were not comfortable and the double was a bit small. The curtain rail fell down. Then the toilet needed a deodorant was very smelly. The cleanliness was good, no local amenities and the only place that was any good was the Village Inn, very friendly people. But no shops, no breakfast bars. The landlord wrote on a board No barbeques and then told us off for putting dog pooh in small Bagsinthe bin, wasn’t impressed no dog pooh bins the bungalow side. No children’s play area. Sorry won’t be staying there again

Meerkat Cottage is in a delightful location, very close to Liskeard (2.5 miles) and local supermarkets, and great for exploring the north and south coasts of Cornwall. The kitchen is very well equipped (sharp knives and storage containers a bonus), there are TVs in the lounge and both bedrooms, with built in DVD players (great if you have kids). The beds were clean, if a little saggy, and towels were provided. On the down-side, the cottage very clearly has a damp problem as there were damp traps in every room and every wardrobe and the base cupboard in the kitchen smelt terrible. There were cobwebs and spiders in every corner and bits and dog hairs all over the bedroom carpets. The sills on the windows and doors were filthy too, in fact the whole place could do with a jolly good clean. Contract cleaners clearly do the bare minimum and I would not stay here again. Oh, almost forgot to mention the extension lead in the second bedroom which is a trip-hazard when you are trying to get to the wardrobe contents.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I would like to thank all our customers for their positive and negative comments about Meerkat Cottage as this is the only way we can judge how good a job we are doing and what improvements are needed. With regards this guests comments, if the cottage was in as bad a state as they have claimed then why didn't they mention this upon arrival. Guests can contact myself the owner as I understand my home line number is on the booking form. Contact the Holiday Company that they booked with or contact my local representative in Cornwall whose telephone number is in the information folder in the cottage. Then any problems could have been addressed at the time. We do not have dampness in our cottage, the dehumidifiers are there to prevent condensation building as we have found most people don't leave the windows opened but locked so the cottage can be aired. With regards the trip hazard in the twin room from the extension cable - this is only needed when the television is being used and I would like to think that most people have the common sense to disconnect it and fold it away when not in use. We have never received such comments as can be seen by all the previous reviews, we have always been rated as good or excellent. I would like to thank our previous guest who gave us a rating of 10/10, stating the cottage was spotless. This guest occupied the property before this client and there had not been any dogs staying in the cottage for ten days so it is strange that we went from spotless to awful in a week. I am sorry this client did not enjoy their stay.
