Description

Medley’s Cottage is the perfect getaway for a family of four, or two couples, wishing for the peace, quiet and clean air of deep Devon countryside.

Nestled down an unmade lane, Medley’s Cottage is one of four holiday properties within the owner’s grounds, a converted barn that once belonged to a nearby stately home. With central heating, heat-recovery ventilation, solar hot water and electricity, you’ll be warm and cosy in this beautifully-appointed dwelling. Downstairs is a large, contemporary, luxurious and well-equipped open plan kitchen/dining room and a doorway which leads through to a large and comfortable living area with French doors that open out onto a private patio, and a private garden area, both with views of the woods and lake.
Beyond the private garden guests can explore a further 18 acres of gardens and grounds. Why not stroll round the large water lily fringed lake, relax in the summerhouse on the south shore or walk more than a mile of paths alongside the stream and through the woods. You can observe the wildlife from the strategically placed hide and vantage points. Barn owls, kingfishers and herds of deer are regular sights, but you can also see grass snakes, badgers, foxes and no end of bird species, some quite rare. On clear winter nights you’ll be astonished by the dark sky, which provides a fantastic view of stars which can’t be seen in other parts of the UK due to light pollution.
There are lovely country, woodland and coastal walks and for cycling enthusiasts, the nearby Tarka Trail is not to be missed, and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. Golf, surfing, fishing and horse riding are all on offer in this stunning location. For family fun The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are close by and there are numerous National Trust properties in the area. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

A spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage with plenty of space for two couples. Great to have two bathrooms. The surroundings with beautiful lake are perfect for painting. Such a peaceful and relaxing break.

The accesss to the cottage was over a very uneven road. The cottage was excellent. It was very clean with every facility that we required and the owners, John and Anne, were on hand when we arrived and gave us full information. Eating out in the immediate location was not easy but was a small inconvenience. Overall an excellent place to stay

Beautiful cottage, good peaceful atmosphere, excellent garden with excellent views. The piano a huge plus, our youngest son enjoyed playing it. Cottage very well equipped.
