Meadowland is a beautiful traditional country cottage in a tranquil location perfect for rest and recuperation and for exploring Suffolk. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard whilst still keeping its character. The cosy living room has a smart TV and stylish fire, ideal for cosying up in front of in the cooler months. The kitchen is fully equipped and from here you can access the private Mediterranean-style garden, perfect for sunbathing or enjoying your favourite tipple under the stunning Suffolk night sky. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower. Upstairs the charm continues with two double bedrooms each with character and a wealth of beams. There are a few pubs locally, and a lovely twenty-minute stroll takes you to a country pub with food.
From Meadowland there are plenty of beautiful walks to take in the beauty of the Suffolk countryside. Wickham Skeith is only 5 miles from the picturesque market town of Eye with its 11th Century Castle with an array of shops and restaurants. The ideal way to see the whole town is to do the Town trail and visit some of the historic buildings and museums. There are also tennis courts, water sports, horse riding, cycling and walking trails nearby.
The historic town of Norwich is great for a bit of retail therapy or for the history buffs there is plenty to discover. For a spot of Golf, pop to Diss just 10 miles away. Stonham Barns, again just 10 miles away has an array of little independent shops, a theatre, a café, and amusements for the children and there are regular events and car boot sales throughout the year No visit to Suffolk is complete without a trip to the stunning Suffolk coast. A trip to the traditional town of Southwold, home to Adnams Brewery is the perfect way to spend a day with its independent shops and restaurants. Close by is Aldeburgh where you will find the famous fish and chip shop, get there early as it is very popular.
Just a little bit further is Thorpeness, the small village of Thorpeness which is dominated by the Mere, is popular all year round and bears witness to the village’s fantastical past. In 1910 Stuart Ogilvie bought the hamlet and set to transform it into a private fantasy holiday village. Today the village is just how Ogilvie envisaged it with pretty mock Tudor houses. You can hire boats and take a trip around the picturesque six thousand acre Mere to see the islands and inlets all named by J M Barrie the author of Peter Pan where you will see statues of Wendy and Peter Pan. Every August a regatta on the Mere is held which culminates in a torch-lit parade of boats and fireworks. Whether you are looking for a short break or a holiday, Meadowland is the perfect retreat. This is primarily a holiday property, but we will accept bookings from people visiting the area for work purposes providing that the party includes no more than two adults.
