Description

This pretty property, set in the Norfolk Broads, is perfect for a couple to have a romantic break away.

Perfect for summer holidays or winter escapes, for reunions and family gatherings, the warmest of welcomes awaits your arrival at Meadow Farm Holiday Barns. Nestled in the countryside, close to the village with its shop and two inns serving food, this is the perfect location to explore the best of Norfolk with its amazing coastline and its famous Norfolk Broads. The barns, each boasting character, are over 200 years old, yet offer contemporary open plan living, and are well equipped and furnished to provide excellent comfort. These well-appointed adjoining barns each enjoy privacy, their own enclosed garden with seating furniture and private parking. The holiday properties are situated in a separate area of the owner’s grounds, which also has a small, members only, Registered Caravan Club site for five caravans, on the properties meadow.

Close by is Hickling Broad, with a nature reserve that links to the Norfolk Broad’s unique topography of reed-lined waterways, famous for their good coarse fishing, boating and rich variety of wildlife, especially waterfowl. Also 3 miles drive away, is the glorious sandy beaches of Sea Palling and Waxham, often visited by seals. Visit Wroxham (11 miles), the capital of the Norfolk Broads, with its waterside cafés, restaurants, shops and daily river trips available. Also catch the Bure Valley Steam Railway here for a wonderful trip to Aylsham. Daily boat hire is available at nearby Hickling Broad and Potter Heigham, ½ mile and 3½ miles away respectively. Quiet country lanes and trails are great for relaxed cycling and walking.

Nearby attractions include BeWILDerwood (a treetop adventure park for children), many National Trust properties including Blickling and Felbrigg Hall and Horsey Windpump. Visit the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth (14 miles) which has a fun fair, amusements and an indoor leisure centre with swimming pool, as well as Cromer (21 miles) with a promenade and pier, and Sheringham (26 miles), home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway. The city of Norwich (21 miles), with its cathedral, castle, museums, galleries, restaurants, cinema, theatre and shopping with two malls and market square is within easy driving distance. For another great day out, visit Horsey Gap (National Trust) where you can walk on the sand dunes and see the seals and pups on the beach (November to February). Beach 3 miles. Two pubs serving good food, one with a small shop both within walking distance.

Absolutely stunning cottage and we really loved our weeks stay here. The welcome treats for us and our dog were a lovely surprise too. We just noticed a few things which could have done with a quick dust, hob cover, under the sofa (only noticed as had to pick something up) and there were some big cobwebs in the living room ceiling really high up! It's such a fab little gem it would be a shame for these things to let it down.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. We are really pleased that you liked the cottage and had an enjoyable stay. With regards to the issues mentioned, the hob cover is black glass, and the farmers were cutting the field next door and as windows are opened to freshen everything, sometimes the black glass gets dusty. Between cleaning at about 1pm and take over at 4pm it also causes cobwebs to sometimes just appear, even though we have an extendable pole to try to get to all dust and cobwebs. The ceilings are vaulted and sometimes we have to wait for a man with a ladder to get up there. Regarding having dust under the sofa, the sofas are moved and the floor vacuumed under them, so I’m not sure how they were dusty. However we do hope to welcome you back in the future.

We loved our stay at the Cartlodge, the cottage had every thing we needed and the welcome tray was exceptional ! The cottage was clean and spacious with all the mod cons you could wish for, little touches like providing barbecue coals, dishwasher tablets etc were really helpful.
